Hey Don, I cleaned it up and plugged it in and the breaker in the shop tripped immediately. Not too concerned I think I will just keep it like it is for now. My old Coke machine is used only as a ice box also.

Thanks Jim. We have done some sleeping in the cabs if the other trucks on some emergency water jobs. Now we will have a better set up. We need to hook up some time. Maybe a West of Austin garage gathering, I'll just once we get some time. Mario is real close by and Ryan is also close by.

It might be time to expand my garage. Unfortunately I can't get this tanker down my driveway. Will have to store it off our property. Hope to have it all licensed and on the road by April. Still learning how to drive the 10-speed. Also need to update my CDL to class A. Some of you may remember I fly helicopters for my living. I really think it's easier to fly those than drive these big trucks. New found respect for big truckers.

Love your shop! I'm up here in N. Central Texas almost in the river and have a 30 x 40 shop too. Built it 35 years ago when I was young, poor and stupid. If I were doing it again I would definitely build it it 12 or 14 ft center height instead of 10 ft to have room for a mezzanine in the top rear for storage and extend the slab another 20 ft to the side with an overhang for parking stuff like trailers that need some protection from the elements but not locked up inside. I'm bursting at the seams with equipment and projects. Of course, any size shop is eventually too dang small. Murphy's law I think.
Mine is air conditioned and heated but I would also use the newer foam insulation and another layer of metal or sheetrock or something to protect the foam to cut down on utility bills.

Thanks guys, Mario I forgot the cars and coffee is this Sunday. My son has his 64 F100 back on the road so I'm sure we will be there. See you in June.


This shop is on a piece of property we purchased in November for our business. I'm anxious to get my shop at the house back to my projects and the big trucks out of there.


I'm using the same builder to weld it up. He really does great work.


I'll plug in my digital camera and get back to a photo sharing site and upload some better pictures.

Hi Nighttrain, I know this is an old thread. I wanted to ask you how your 1/12 pitch roof held up in the crazy Texas snow of 2023? Any issues with snow on it? I'm in a similar situation of wanting a lean-to for my camper, but don't want to be too crazy high in the ceilings. Also, you mentioned using the same builder for your shops. Can you share who it is? I live in Drip too. Thanks
