First: My 13 Drawer HF cart finally got some tools migrated over to it. Bought the SAE/Metric socket trays from HF. LOVE them.

Thursday I went to HF and picked up a Red Service cart. I had a $200 gift card from the wifey from Xmas (She went to get me the 2 shelf side cabinet for my roller chest, but they were out).
Fits SNUGGGGGGGGGGGGGLY in my 2000 Civic Hatchback

They had gloss red displayed in the store, so I wasn't sure which model I would get
CIMG2889.jpg

Turns out I got the gloss. I would have liked it to match my 13 drawer, but the gloss has grown on my already! This thing is AWESOME!

Finally, I've made a few posts regarding a metal cabinet I bought off CL. $40 bucks. A few stickers, knicks, scuffs, and a rusty bottom. All in all a steal.
I finally decided on a paint scheme: Red w/Black doors, identical to a Cman cabinet.

YUCK

Sanded, primed

There are a total of 3 coats of Rustoleum gloss red on it right now. Might go one more tomorrow morning.

I have yet to start on the doors, as this was occupying my saw horses while it dries. Yes it IS only 30deg up here in Ohio, but I figured what the heck. Paint didn't come out tooo bad. I don't believe I let the primer dry long enough and got a little orange peel effect. I figure If it looks that bad after it's done, I'll scuff it up and add 1 more coat this spring, no biggie. The rust is gone, and that was my main concern! The inside of the cabinet is staying tan. I am NOT taking the time to paint the whole inside! :lol_hitti

Side note: I hate you GJ, the back wall on my semi-cramped 20x20 is overflowing with tool goodies.

I like what you did with the cabinet off CL. Post some finished pics when it's all done.

They are made by Sortatool and are AWESOME!!!!!:thumbup::bounce:

I have 5 or 6 of them in my box, they sell them at sears right next to the wrenches $10. They are designed specifically for the standard Craftsman raised panel wrenches

They are not a Craftsman product!

$40 for that frikken cabinet???? Waht a STEAL!! I bought the CHEAPEST one I could find (after years of looking) for $150 (new). But now I realize I just don't have the room...so I have to return it. Today I bought a metal cabinet that fits UNDER my paint mixing bench...used from Habitat - for $30. It'll be perfect for my flammables, but still, I could never find prices like you got that for!!

Gotta love the hf and c-list deals

At work they threw away a similar cabinet in grey that i snagged out of the dumpster. Straightned it out and works fine.

I told the wife I want HF gift cards for my birthday so I can pick up a 13drawer tool box.

Nice stuff Quint.

Seems that every other thread I open, that damned HF 13 drawer tool box keeps popping up. I don't need it, but I guess I'm gonna have to break down and get one. Damned thing keeps haunting me.

:wtf: Whoa. My mistake. Purple text means business!

E-tek: Right place at the right time I suppose! Just got lucky!

Jack: No worries on the pics. Camera is charged up ready to take it back outside today. 34deg for the high today. Yipee!

Jeffk - That's how I felt about that HF Service Cart!!! I just figured with HF growing popularity, growing prices, and strict coupon regulations, I'd better pick one up now or I'll never see these low prices again! But who knows?

Quint, I lucked out and got the cart last summer for $149 minus the 20% coupon. Currently looking at getting the 13 drawer cabinet before the $349 coupon expires. Probably won't ever be that cheap again.

Well, finished up the cabinet today. Pretty happy with the results, but I know they could have been better. Had quite a bit of orange peel action and some places where the paint almost "beaded" off. Not sure if it was wet primer, the cold temps, bad paint...whatever.
I'm glad it's done, and for what it is, it looks 1,000,000,000 times bettter!
CIMG2914.jpg

4 coats of satin black with 3 coats of clear coat. The clear dripped in some spots which I was not too happy about, but what can I do.
CIMG2915.jpg

CIMG2917.jpg

Hit the hinge pins with the wire wheel and WD-40'd them
CIMG2920.jpg

CIMG2921.jpg

The cabinet is going in this corner, once I get the old cabinet out of there. Can't wait!!!

Hope you guys enjoyed my weekend project!
