My daughter had asked me to fix a jewelry project and I said, "Sure. I will hit it with the Dremel"

"What", my wife said, "You have a dental tool?"

"No, no." I replied. "A Dremel tool. It's named after the manufacturer. Like Crescent wrench."

Then I got to thinking (Danger Will Robinson!) of all the tools named after the designer/manufacturer. I came up with the following:

Stilson wrench
Allen wrench
Skilsaw
Sawzall

Just like kleenex and xerox have become generic terms, so have many tool names.

Care to add to the list? (I'm trying to avoid going out to mow the lawn :bounce:)

Forstner bit.

The Forstner bit was invented by Benjamin Forstner, a gunsmith. It was originally widely used by gunsmiths, who prized it for its ability to bore a smooth-sided hole. This type of bit is not commonly used in modern guns, however, which are usually made using the appropriately named gun drill.
