wtf is that thing?
the drill, thingy

Snap On Industrial is actually semi affordable. About 50% of catalog price.

All that proves is that organizations that are built on the backs of the tax payer could care less about how much they spend for a tool box.... Snap-On makes a good tool box I'll agree with that, but I know without certainty that my Ranger and my Craftsman would very effectively store that multimillion dollar "custom made power tool" just as well and for 1/3rd the price.
So NASA and this thread proved that government is wasteful with your money.... Hmmmm shocker....

If that's directed at me, your sadly mistaken sir. I work for the government and see it first hand. I'm not bitching, I'm telling the truth. You can burry your head if you'dlike though

An off-the-shelf Snap-On is cheaper then having a box custom-built. Look at the boxes NASA and their center use in the clean rooms and tell me what you think they cost.

Snap On boxes are over rated if you ask me. My buddy has a CMan Pro box and I'd swap my Snap On box in a second for it. The first time I went into his box I about busted my teeth out with the drawer. I was so used to the amount of force needed to open my drawers and his open with barely any effort. It came flying open at Mach 10!
No I don't base off JUST that one. We have a **** ton of Snap On boxes at work, along with Craftsman, Vidmar, Lista, etc as well.

? a gently breeze should blow it open if not latched, sounds like you have a slide problem. *sigh* it's like every thread.
Swap it out then please and spare everyone who likes SO the BS.
I work at SpaceX (one of NASA's service providers) and I couldn't have said it better myself. The fact that NASA is using only a snap-on box meanings they've saved the tax payers some money.
As another point of reference: in our shops we use primarily Lista's for tool storage and HF's (!!) and bluepoints for job boxes. Generally speaking we order boxes that we can get quickly for a decent bulk price. Some of the more experienced technicians will bring in their personal boxes and as you'd imagine they're normally MAC, Matco or Snap-ons (I'd bet a dollar that red snap-on box in mrb's picture is someone's personal box).
SpaceX, right on. You guys are totally killing it in that market. I know a few people who work there. Do the personal boxes include personal tools? How do they manage the calibrations/certs? Do the techs have to pay to cal their own tools, or does SpaceX pay for it? Where I work none of the techs have their own tools.
Apparently the definition of "discussion forum" has lost its meaning with you. Is it that only your opinion counts or is it that you've drank the Kool-Aid so much that you now consider it a threat to your religion when someone doesn't bow at the casters of a SO box?? The guy's entitled to his opinion (as is everyone else) and without people adding them to this forum it wouldn't much of a forum at all.
Discussions are fine, one sided constant bashing is quite another.
I think if Snap on gave you a free toolbox instead of Ranger you would have a different opinion about it after hearing "Snap-on's" overrated EVERY single thread.
Jesus people give it a rest already and just buy whatever you like.
Personally I like SO's boxes and have quite a few, that doesn't mean I don't have a bunch of C-man boxes or want a Lista cab or a Montezuma road box so really piss off with the whole religion comment.
You're thinking more along the lines of shipyard workers treating a 3/4" or 1" drive Snap-On torque wrench like a football. I have more faith in those who work at NASA.If that's directed at me, your sadly mistaken sir. I work for the government and see it first hand. I'm not bitching, I'm telling the truth. ...the majority of this thread, this forum, and the industries in general have a hard-on for anything stamped Snap-on. Whether it be a toolbox, a chess set, or a set of steak knives.

Oh please. If you'd put on the reality goggles you'd see the majority of this thread, this forum, and the industries in general have a hard-on for anything stamped Snap-on. Whether it be a toolbox, a chess set, or a set of steak knives.
See that's where your wrong. It's all fine, one sided or not, it's called OPINION and its what internet forums are made of.
You have a real hard time accepting other people's opinions don't you? Of course if Snap On gave me a free box, I'd like it and I never once in my entire time on this site said that Snap On tools or boxs are over rated or over priced for what they are. My comments had nothing to do with a free box and everything to do with what you get for your dollar. Otherwise known for bang for the buck.
There is a big difference between over priced and under valued. An item that is a good value may not exactly be as good a product as one that is higher cost but over priced in comparison.
I'm not a newbie to tools or tool storage and regardless of what's in my garage, I never said any of them were better or worse than another in terms of quality and use.
You need to lighten up and realize that the Internet is full of people that know it all and have something to say about everything. Get over it, stop being so sensitive and you'll live a lot longer and healthier life. I'm sure your life is full of things that deserve much more attention and stress than a friggen debate on an Internet forum about who has the better tool box.
Honestly, I could care less what kind of tool box a NASA tech is given by the government, if the government even pays for it. It's small potatoes and the comment I made in my first post was metaphorical in nature and more of a broad comment about how easy it is to partake in wasteful spending when the money aint yours and never stops coming. Ill timed maybe, maybe not.
