Hey all, I've been a lurker for a while now but am now ready to get proactive and get things done!
My dad has a 40x60 with a 16x60 appartment on the side. After 18 years we have filled it up. We are need of some more storage space. We would like to build a mezzanine but don't want any posts on the ground. I would like some ideas of how to hang one from the walls and trusses.
The trusses/walls are on 24" centers. They are standard trusses. It doesn't need to support huge amounts of weight but would like to be as strong as possible. We want to move an air compressor up their, along with shelves and space to forklift up pallets.
We are thinking about coming out 4' away from the walls and using all thread to support it from the trusses. Maybe build a hanger that goes around the bottom of the truss that the all thread can be bolted through.
I just need some ideas. Here are some photos of the area in question and a rough plan.
A few views of our shop and what we use it for.
