I really need to get myself a new jack. Old one is over 15yrs old, is bent and leaks .
I was strongly considering Napa's NLE 791-6420, which is their (import) version of the old Hein Werners. Cost is around $295 in the flyer. I really want the original HW, but at $500+tax+ $100 shipping, its not going to happen.
Generally I try to buy made in NA tools, but I understand the 6420 is a ShinnFu (stand to be corrected) , so quality should be "almost" as high as their HW jack. Most of the tire shops in the area are using the 6420 so its a quality unit.
However the local Napa just got a shipment of the new Carslile 791-6440. List on that jack is $500
they say. Special price was $390, but the guy I usually deal with could drop that to $350.
It looks an awful lot like the new Snapon FJ200 with a different handle, pad and front wheels plus a higher "3.5" ton rating. The Snappy Fj200 sells for what $600?? in the states, the Bluepoint YA1707 (HW clone) is over $500 here and I have no idea what the FJ would be locally, but Id imagine more than the YA.
Who is the OEM for the Carslile 6440? And is it a "deal" at $350 vs the older 6420 design? Low lift height isnt a criteria for me. A "3.5" ton jack would be a benefit.
Budgetwise Id like to keep it in the $200-300 range, but would spring the extra $50 if it was worth it. To replace my current Chinese Princess Auto 3 ton would be over $200 anyways, so a little more for a lot better is OK in my book, and Ive been pretty happy with my other NLE stuff like their jack stands.
