Evening lads. I am up against it with my long nose pliers. I have carried a pair of Klein D314-8 Long Reach Long Nose pliers for over ten years. I love these things. They are eight inches in length but have a short nose of less than two inches and no cutter. And have the slimmest of handles. Perfect for tight control cabinets and other limited clearance areas.
The grips are coming apart(thank you ******** who used them without my permission and destroyed the grips) and when I tried to order a new pair the vendor told me they are discontinued. I was sure I had seen them recently and indeed they are still shown on Klein's site. What gives I thought? I emailed Klein and sure enough, they are long gone. I suppose I could find some online somewhere but this is a company purchase and they like it to be easy to find.
So what are my options? The replacement grips from Klein are out. I despise the tenite grips, the models long enough replace these are way to large in diameter and will render the slimness of the tool irrelevant.
New grips from somewhere else? Anything out there? What about PlastiDip? I almost cringe at the thought of that stuff.
New pliers? I REALLY like Knipex but don't think they have an equivalent. Most pliers I have seen that approach this have really short handles and very long noses. I like the way the Klein's are laid out with long handle/short nose. I can tell you that until a replacement grip or pliers is found these aren't leaving the tool bag.
