I have searched the net looking for a suitable ceiling fan for my shop without much luck.
My trouble is that I only have 8ft ceilings so clearance and safety is an issue.

In the past I been using a high powered 18in floor fan to circulate air, but its noisy and stirs up alot of dust.

My shop is 24x24

I got 2 separate 110v 15amp lines run to my center junction box in the ceiling so I would like to have a fan with a light or lights

My criteria.
As low profile as physically possible
Quiet
Reversible blade direction
Light/s
Variable speed, preset or with a POT.

Don't want anything that looks like it belongs in the dinning room or family room. The less frills and more basic the better.

Anyone got any ideas or links to products ?
Thanks

What about an exhaust fan that would still circulate air in the garage and wouldn't compromise your headroom, you could vent to outside and I have seen vent fans that move 180 CFM. Hope this helps.

But a cheap hugger celing fan and spray paint it with your color of choice maybe flat white, gray, black, ect to give it an industrial look. I havent seen an industrial hugger fan so youll have to go with an residential indoor one. There are some cool wall mount ones available as well.

I put a flush-mount ceiling fan in our master bedroom, which has 8' ceilings. It's a Hunter Low Pro III, the short blade model. They have 52" versions as well, with or without lights. Seems decently made. Mine needs balancing but I don't run it very fast.

For speed control, I use my favorite wall switch - it's a 3-speed fan controller and light switch with dimmer, in a single gang size. One side switch does the fan, the other does the light dimming, and the toggle turns the light on/off:

Thanks everyone, I am pretty sure I am gonna have to go with a residential unit minus the lighting assembly (unless I can find a high output LED to retro onto it)

I like the idea of spray painting it, I think a natural cast iron look would be cool.
