¼ HP is not going to do much work but if you have a 4 inch stone and want to sharpen a pocket knife you are golden if you have a 10 inch stone and want to sharpen a lawnmower blade make a new plan.

For safety’s sake be sure to use a 3 prong plug with a switch on a GFIC circuit.

Let’s see some photos of the inside of the pecker head or connection box.

Gotcha so really not worth fix it for me is it worth anything or is it trash if it may be useful to someone let me know I'll take some more pictures

It's not going to run a grinder, but that doesn't relegate it to being trash. It's probably a damn good motor for the right application.

I've got a Vintage Flat Belt Driven Drill Press with a GE 1/4hp Motor that will drill 3/8" holes in steel all day long.
