I have a cheap masterforce vise currently in my garage. Its probably the cheapest tool I own, I think I paid $20 for it at Menards because I needed something.
Well, I'm looking to upgrade. And started searching, and boy am I overwhelmed.
So, a bit of guidance is what I'm after.
1. I do more "mechanic/welder fabricator" work than anything. I restore cars as my hobby.
2. I don't have a ton of coin to drop on some $500 vise right now. But I'd like something stout enough to beat on. I'd like to stay in the $100 range or less if possible.
And my questions-
1. What "type" of vise should I be looking for?
2. Is it better to buy used than new?
3. What details should I be looking for in a vise?
4. What brands should I look at?
