Need some help with organizing my shop

I could really use some help with organizing and laying out a better usage for my shop.

The building is 30'W x 60'L x 13'H. 2 10'x10' insulated doors and 1 36" walk thru door, also has a 10' x 30' loft storage area.

Here is my problem as I see it
I have to many different types of hobbies. I work on older vehicles , I build things for my wife's many honey do's :( and I like to keep my shooting skills up to date :bounce:.

So of course all these hobbies have there own special tools and they all need their own space.

But where do I start ? Since I recently completed the wife's she shed  I can spend some time getting my shop somewhat organized this winter.

The first place I am going to work on is my re-loading area. This is the area below the loft and as soon as you come in the walk thru door.
My plan for this area is to first pull everything away from the walls except for the safe (that thing weights to much to move around) and frame it up, insulate it, and put up some plywood to hide all the insulation. I will build a wall in front of the pallet racks under the loft and then add a double door to go into the shop.

That's about as far as I have got on my plans so far. This is where your opinions, pictures and thoughts will help guide me.

Looks like a useful working shop to me. I've tried to clean mine up to look like these "ultimate garage/man caves" you see pictures of and determined those people probably just park their Lambos in them and don't actually use it like a shop.

Only thing I could think of is if you want to hide the storage shelves maybe build a sliding door or something over it to clean the look up. Otherwise, unless you downsize the hobbies your gonna have a little clutter.

Nice place! Lets see some more pictures of the Apache, I have a 59 that needs completely redone sometime in the next 20 years or so

you could free up some wall space getting rid of that trash Raiders sign, maybe replace it with something useful like a Detroit Lions logo.

only suggestion I see, is to build a lean too or shed and move all the stuff that is sitting on the shelves for years at a time, would, tires, etc... free up some space and gets rid of the clutter.

would also add, if those are 42 inch deep shelves switch them over to 24 inch deep. I found with the 42 things got buried and it just turned into a cluster f.

I did that to all my shelves and it cleaned it up a lot and freed up another 18inch of floor space.

ScottsGT,
Thanks, but not bragging at all. I usually don't let anyone in the shop cause it's got to be set up better so they don't get injured while in there.

Jscoggin,
Thanks, problem is those toys haven't been touched for a few years cause I need to get organized.

Gmtech,
Thanks

Zx6rrider,

I've seen the places you are talking about, just not my style.

I have considered enclosing them, I've also considered getting rid of them or cutting them down to fit up in the loft to clear up some floor space, not sure which route I will go just yet.

I used to drive the 57 in HS and then in 1990 my dad gave it to me and said have fun getting it to run. I in-turn tore it down got it running then drove it from San Francisco to Bremerton, WA without any problems. I have driven it to every state I have lived in and it was usually towing something all the way. I'll have to look for some pictures and post them up later.

Ezover,
The Raiders may currently **** *** but they are still my team, so the flag will always fly in the shop.

The shelving is 36" deep 10' foot long and 12' tall and most of the parts on them should be going back on the Camaro when I get the paint finished.

Looks more like a humble brag thread to me.

You ****!

Got to agree with this statement. But as far as organizing the shop...get some friends to come around and just hang out. It's not the shop, it's just wanting something more lively.
