I to restore/save old Ferret 70N
It was not holding position well and the direction level would not move easily. I took it apart and noted that the original grease became almost rock consistency.
I actually used a small knife and a screwdriver to start cleaning the gear wheel and the area. I did not remove the pawl as it needs to be punched out and I am afraid I might damage something. Tried to clean around with the pick. A lot of gunk came out, but some is still left.
What would you soak the parts in to clean it?
I have some WD40, PB Blaster, Evaporust... Was hoping to see if it will move better and possibly work well once all the caked grease will be cleaned out.
