This is my bench it’s 3’x7’ 1/4” steel, I am learning to weld and want a small fixture table I can set on it and bolt down to weld on.
I have this little 1/2” thick chuck of cast iron but would like for it to be 24”x24” with a little vertical section.

I was trying it out today trying to see what would feel right. I’d love to have a Primeweld table but I’m just learning and it’s not for business so I can’t see investing that kind of money in something that I might only do once in a while.
The idea is to be able to make some fixtures and jigs to help me keep things square and for repetition.
What are your thoughts?

I was looking at these last night, I love his dragon wagon but I’ve got to be able to put it away. This one you shared is more in my wheelhouse. Thanks

Stop by and I will give you this base from a heavy duty drill press. It has the T slots for fixturing. It is cracked where the column attaches. I didn't trust welding it so I made a new base.
I appreciate that, I absolutely love my drill press like the one this came from. I’ve got some hold downs from other machines mounted on it right now and it’s a beast. If I was closer I’d take you up on that.

This YouTube guy VinyB 57 designed a fireball type table using laser cut plates. He has plans for a bunch of sizes available. Check it out.

The table saws tops are pretty thin, I’ve got a steel supplier nearby I’m going to see what’s available in a smaller size 24x24” is what I think would be ideal.
