Need some tape for the engine bay

I had to install some new rear brake lines on my car, and previously when they threaded up and into the engine bay they were connected with a rubber triangle/grommet against the firewall so as not to rub against the steel.

They were taped into place in the grommet, and I need to re-tape. The prior tape was a kind of mixture of electrical on the outside and cloth on the inside; any recommendations on what to use here?

I used something like this to seal my holes I drilled in the headlight housing.
years later, still did not peel and no moisture.

Can used to seal leaks on various hard surfaces too, like metal or plastic shed roofs. You can find other similar brand like Polyken, 3M with this same type of product.

Did you mean electrical tape on the inside and cloth on the outside? That's what my American-made German car had on its wiring harnesses (back in the 80's.)

Same stuff that I linked above, McMaster has it cheaper. Good stuff, easy to use and lasts forever. Only stuff I use for automotive or trailers.

If it is going to rub, it is going to wear. Only a matter of how fast !

I had some A/C lines that were clamped to a frame rail. I cut a piece of heater hose, slit it and placed it over the A/C line. That will take a LONG time to wear through !

I had a grandfather from Austria who escaped from the Nazis and used to sing folk songs to me when I worked in the garage. "Adel clamp, adel clamp, every frame rail I see, small and tight, clean and bright, nothing can chafe against me."

I may be misrembering that.
