Need suggestions on Garage refresh PUFFY INSULATION

Will be in this house for the next few years so i want to get the garage in shape. I have LED fixtures for the ceiling, going to finish the drywall and paint, grind off the old janky epoxy to redo it, paint the garage doors white and re-do the insulation with white smooth foamboard.

My question is what can i do with that puffy insulation that is falling off in places and overall kinda gross looking? Also what do i do at the base of that insulation when it’s time to do the floor. It puffs out from the wall about 3-4” and goes the whole way to the floor. Is there anyway i could do some kinda rubber baseboard that would keep water from going under the insulation and also be a good break for the epoxy? This needs to be budget friendly and not come out any further from the wall than the current insulation because getting in/out of the car on the wall side is tight. The garage doors are VERY small and the driveway is tight getting in/out of the garage.

Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Moved in last year and its been driving my crazy.

That appears to be a block wall. I would remove the puffy insulation, which is usually installed between studs, and glue 3/4 foam board to the wall. Then, install 3/4 furring strips with tapcons 16 on center , in-fill between strips with another layer of 3/4 insulation and cover with drywall. I would tape the seams on the first layer of foam and use a construction adhesive rated for foam.

Frame a wall against the insulation and hang drywall. Or rip it out and replace it with foam board.
Thanks for the suggestion. I considered that but really cant give up the room that would **** up between the car and the wall

Dang, now thats an idea! I wonder what the R value would be compared to the puffy stuff. Your suggestion would keep it tight to the wall too.

Probably around R7. If you go with thicker foam against the wall, you can increase the R value but the trade off is a thicker wall. You might also consider a product called insofast. It glues up and has embedded strips to screw the drywall to. The R value will be higher.

I’ll check that out. Thank you all so much for the suggestions. I was lost on where to start with this project and you all have pointed me in the right direction!

You said it’s already puffed out 4” from the wall. :headscrat

If you remove it and put a 2x4 which is 3.5” and 3/4 type x drywall you will not stick out any further than you already do?
