Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a cordless drill.

I already have a 1/2" IR 20V cordless impact gun. I purchased a Makita BTW253 3/8" impact gun but I sold it to a friend of mine so I could get the new IR 3/8" drive impact gun. The BTW253 was an amazing 3/8" cordless impact with 155 ft. lb. of torque. I sold it early because he offered to buy it at $50 loss.

So I plan to have powerful cordless tools. My cordless snap-on 1/2" impact is still running strong but I rarely use it because of my IR.

My question is should I go for a Makita/Dewalt/Milwaukee etc... brand for a cordless or Should I get the Snap-on Drill? Or wait for IR to release a 20v cordless drill. So I can have a complete set of cordless tools that use the same battery and charger?

I really do want to wait for a 20V IR drill but I don't know when they will release it. Seeing how they released the 1/2" last year and 3/8" this year the drill could be next year. Anybody know more info on the release dates? Like even the 3/8" isn't available for pre-order

There was a thread on this just last week. Look in the tools section.

My only advice is to stick to one kind for as many tools as you can, because the limiting factor is always the batteries and chargers

Here is the BDA350 LXT Drill, and it is a workhorse. Probably one of the best tools made by Makita today.

On the label, "MADE IN JAPAN." That's what you want, not China.

Just for further information, Makita's BTW253 (3/8" drive) and BTW450 (1/2" drive) impact wrenches are made in Japan, too, from what I can tell. Also either the jigsaw or the circular saw is made in the UK.

2 words.... Milwaukee Brushless
Super Impressed with my Fuel Drill. I used to be a Makita fan, but while the tool itself was excellent, I was always less then impressed with the batteries. When I switched to Milwaukee M18's, I was and still am impressed with both the tools and the batteries.

At first, I wanted to get the Makita because it's made in japan.. Then I saw milwaukee in red with the 5 year warranty i thought otherwise. :D

yes i see the PRC label. I know im not proud of it but they are badass little drills. I didnt know that one of the requirements was a non china made drill. I dont want to get into a mine is better than yours ******* match. I just said that I have had mine for 3 years and it seems to be working great. I know other guys at the hangar that have milwaukees and they seem to work just fine. Didnt mean to start a fight by it.

No picking a fight...that is the last thing...and no ******* match...I have been buying tools since I have had a full time job at the age of 11...and yes 48 hours a week...I make it a point to buy us brand tools after seeing what has been happening to them over the past 15 years or so...If you really want to know Makita was the cordless drill of the 90's and the first cordless drills were really just a cordles screwdrive back in 85ish...so I just call it like I see it..and for light work there are great....run the hell out of them they break...so I was just saying what drill to buy Hilti..for now.

what are you doing with the drill? if you have these impacts I would guess you are a tech? how often do you really use a drill? once a week? I would just wait for the IR if you need it.

Real bad news about Hilti. Last time I stopped by the Depot they had a majority of items marked made in China.

If you want a cordless tool not made in China, the Dewalts are made in Mexico now. And, there are a few Makitas made in Japan still. Also, the Snap-Ons are often U.S. made since they bought Sioux a few years ago. I don't know about Euro brands not sold here.
