Feel compelled to share my recent negative buying experience with ChrisF250. PM'd him to say I wanted the two cabinets he recently listed here, came to an agreement on price for both, a mutually agreed upon date, place and time to meet to exchange cabinets for cash. Notice that he responds to other members questions stating that only one of the cabinets is still for sale re: cabinets that we agreed upon. When I question him he says he sold one of them locally for more than we agreed upon (as if that gets him out of his commitment). At first he claims ignorance about not "hearing back from me". When I remind him of the 5 emails and all my wasted time he admits that he "shouldn't have done it".
Bottom line if you agree to a deal, have enough respect for the other members time to HONOR the deal. Claims he's been burned in the past by flaky buyers, again as if that allows him to fish for better offers.
He never asked for payment before pick-up or a deposit, I guess his word isn't worth much if he's not willing to back it up!

Like I said in my PM back to you it was a mistake and one I accept responsibility for. I shouldn't have agreed to sell it to you at that price as I was not comfortable with it and at least should have let you known if a better deal arose I was going to take it. I didn't and that is my fault and I won't make that mistake again. As far as my word I think plenty of people have bought from me before with zero incidents so I will let that speak for itself. Again I offer my apologies.

You "shouldn't have" but you did agree to sell it to me at a price. You "shouldn't have" wasted my time and others time stringing us along but you did. I have zero tolerance for people who back out on deals waiting for a better deal, I must have missed that in your fine print. Try ePay next time as I think the auction format is more suited to someone like you interested in selling to the highest bidder versus honoring your comittments. Fellow GJ members CAVEAT EMPTOR when dealing with this guy!

I will agree with everything Sikopal stated, and I'll add my own....

I showed interest the day after he posted, asking a question about the box. He replied in the thread with an answer, never mentioning that anyone else was showing interest let alone arranged purchase and pickup. That night get a simple PM saying box is bought, thanks for interest. No explanation, and he did not even update the post AFTER telling me it was sold.

His reason for not updating the post as sold was that he did not want to break the 72hr rule.....though he did just that when he answered my question.
No loss of money or anything serious, just a heads up to future buyers/sellers to this guy.

I feel when you post something, that's what you sell it for to the first person to say "I'll take it". I've had nothing but GREAT experiences buying and selling on here over the past year, would like to keep it that way for everyone.

This is only meant to give people a heads up about ChrisF250's selling practices, not meant to bash the guy. Take it for what you will as to what kind of person you are dealing with for any future transactions.....

I can see both sides of the story, but I would not say to beware of CHRISF250. The Guy did not rip you off or sell you something not described.

He has Apologized and still gets bashed???

This is only my opinion and means nothing to anyone ,but me:thumbup:

When I updated the post with an answer to the question the post was on the first page relatively high up if I remember correctly. After the box sold it was on the second page near the middle/ bottom, I pmd everyone who had interested and said the box was sold. I did not want to bump it back to the first page.

By the time you had mentioned you would take it at 140 on Sunday I had already arranged a deal with sikopal, which i broke. You were third in line at that time because I had receied pms before your post in the thread. The only person I wronged here was Sikopal because I had a deal and broke it because I got a better offer and I failed to inform him if a better offer came along I was going to take it.

Really, you consider poor communication and hiding the fact that there were deals in progress "not wrong".....:headscrat What if I had talked to my friend and plans had been made to get to Boston/MA, think a heads up to not waste my and her time would be worth it or even considerate??
Well, maybe not for you, perhaps a heads up to the second buyer would have led to not getting your higher price...:wtf:...don't know, but decent people don't undermine other agreements.

As I said, this post is to give people a heads up to who you are dealing with before getting into a transaction...TAKE IT FOR WHAT YOU WILL.....I try to be upfront and clear with my postings...

Buckgnarly you've hit the nail on the head here. It's about respect for members time and the commitment made that is at issue here.
At no point did ChrisF250 mention to me in the 5+ PM's we traded that he was reconsidering the mutually agreed upon price which HE set (I had asked for a lower price considering I was willing to drive 112 R/T to pick them up).
Nor did ChrisF250 mention that he was putting the cabinets up to highest bidder which is NOT how GJ is set-up to work.
Bottom line here poor communication, bad business practices. Both issues I feel other members need to be aware of when considering dealing with this guy. If he says one thing and does another his word doesn't hold much value.
As far as other members chiming in with their "opinions worth nothing". As Grandpa used to say, "opinions are like assholes everyones got one, and they all stink"!
Two members got the run around on one deal with ChrisF250, these are experiences, not opinions. If you have others to share about this guy that may change my perception by all means fire away.
To say that no harm no foul, like I didn;t get ripped off. Due to the fact that I had an agreement with ChrisF250 to purchase his cabinets I passed on a deal locally this weekend for similar set at similar cost. After finding out that I had been screwed by him I recontacted the other seller only to find that they were sold! Sour grapes, maybe but it'll take more than someones opinion to change my opinion of ChrisF250.

again YOU came up with this plan to meet this person in boston something I NEVER agreed to or hinted at. If you wasted that persons time that's your problem, I let you know that night that the box was sold.
