Never Enough Space, Metal building addition
This is my first Post, so I thought I'd make it a good one.
I decided to add-on to my shop. My currant space is a 31x25 metal building, It has served me well for 10 years now and like many of you, I couldn't imagine living without it.
Over the years I have collected alot more tools, and stuff and just cant seem to get organized, I have shop envy looking at alot of the well designed shops on this site.
So I hatched a plan and poured a 20x31 slab behind my shop ( it dosent block the view from the house back there ) and made a trip to a metal buiding business a few miles up the road. I bought raw square tubing and sheets of tin cut to lenght.
My plan was to fab up some slugs with a 5 degree bend in them ( to reduce the roof pitch) insert them into the original truss and run the addition off of those to the new outer wall. Once the roof is up I will close in the other two walls and remove the original back wall tin and reuse it on the new back wall. I will open up the wall studs and put in 2 headers giving me a 45x31 shop ( with a center pole
).
The new area will have a small bay door 9x9 or 10x10 for "new projects" or to bring long material in so not to haul it next to my other cars. This new area will be a dedicated fab space.
I plan on osb interior wall covering in the area and peg board wall hanging.
Thats enought chatter enjoy the pics.
Godspeed
