Nice job! I envy that you've done so much in the first year of ownership. I'm about 18 months in to my first garage and not nearly as far.

I'm sure other's will disagree, but I got a few squares of racedeck to see if it was something I'd like and the noise it makes while walking it on drives me mad. I'm sure you can put some sort of underlayment or something down but something to consider.

Thank you, it's been a fun way to spend time instead of always wrenching on cars. I actually have 4 pieces of the race deck tile under the fridge in the garage and noticed the noise was a bit more than I had figured it might be. Was hopping at some point to be at a show or see a large space with the flooring to check noise and how it feels before I spend the 1500+ on tiles.

I like the hot and cold spigots.

Adding the hot water tap after I moved the hot water heater in the basement and replaced it with an on demand system was one of the better ideas. No more cold water washes in the winter so my hands don't freeze.

What is the cause of this noise that fellow RD floor owners are experiencing? My floor is noise-free! Is it dirt beneath the tiles?

PS..if you plan to wash in the winter, where does your water drain to? That's my problem. I should have installed a drain in the garage.

Hmm no noise with yours or Dubbers but others I've seen complain about the noise.

Right now I crack the door open 2" or so and the water flows out the door with the slope of the floor. It's worked fine so far as I'm not allowed to have a drain in the garage floor or I would have had one.

That's what I do, but I get frustrated with an ice rink for a driveway. Mulling installing a trench drain just on the outside edge of the pad.

this is why i need to figure out how to drain that trench drain eventually, the water pools at the door and the sides under the garbage can and in front of my toy Mazda. This was after only 6 hours or so in the unheated garage with -30C outside over night from under the wives car.

you can see the mess even after Ive cleaned the floor

free water to help clean the floor, i just squeegee the whole mess out after a bit.

installed the cabinets under the bench

than i moved a few things around as i hate a messy work bench

than started into the car and removing stuff that is going to a new home.

this is what a one off supercharger setup for the Mazda FSDE looks like after years of fab work and hours of thinking to design and build it.

and my new cordless grinder from Ryobi decided to come apart after a few minutes of use.

changed the cabinets around again as the full doors were not easily opened and i was wasting some space under the table

added the lights back under the top

next is figuring out this floor as the snow/slush from all of the east coast storms we've had recently is starting to get on my nerves and its too cold to just wash and squeegee out the water into the yard.

I've got a questions about your lower Husky cabinet. I like the two door design. What is the inside like? Do you have to have a shelf in the middle, can it be moved?

fully adjustable up and down and its a pull out shelf with ball bearing sliders similar to the drawers. Ill snap a few pictures after work and post them.

only thing you can do is try, mine was more of a if i had to i guess i could. Normally the daily cars sit outside even in the winter unless we are getting a good storm. I bought the wife a car starter just so that i could keep the garage nice and clean all winter and not listen to her complain about a cold car.

not 100% sure, the only thing i know right now is the 2 front corners of the garage have a good 6" slush pile and the concrete walls are both frozen and covered in a thin layer of ice. when i open the door i use a scrapper and scrape the ice and water out as best as i can before it refreezes to the floor.

its something i will have to figure out before i start parking 2 dailys in there on storm days.

Nice garage! I have 24x26 garage and went with the race deck free flow design this year. I too live in the northeast and this is my first winter with it. My wife parks in the garage and the slush goes through the floor and my feet are always clean when I walk out into the garage with my socks on. When it is cold in the garage, the slush stays in the floor, but when it warms up, it drains well into my center drain. I really don't notice any noise in the floor that was mentioned before. You can't go wrong with race deck. Well worth the money!

wish we could have a drain, that would have solved all of my water issues in the space.

Also exchange rate right now is making Canadian RD suppliers charge about $5.50 a tile, yes i have talked to the US guys as well just cost of the border and extras make the pricing similar. its just more than I'm willing to spend on a floor till I've at least seen one in person, not just sample tiles.

I could easily have the order shipped to a warehouse in Maine owned by the company i work for, still have to pay duties, customs and brokerage on the invoiced amount plus freight to get it to me from there. End of the day costs are similar, ***** as i really like the 4 tiles i have no that were samples and think it would solve more than a few issues i have.

Love my tall cabinet. I went with the 32" as it fit perfectly when i had my single garage. The shelves are only "adjustable" when your building the whole thing. You do also need to put the middle shelf in for the door to be able to lock closed. Beyond that i love it. Shelves are sturdy. I had been putting my 6 gallon pancake compressor on one of the shelves. Think they are $50 off right now at home depot. For the price its perfect!

used mine as a garage this weekend for what is being called teh Valentines day massacre

took almost 10 years to build this car how i wanted and only 3 days to strip her apart. motor and doors will be leaving this weekend than ill have the shell taken away.

full workbench, happened a few times as i removed pieces and boxed them up to be shipped to new owners

currently

still need to remove the full front suspension, interior and few other small parts but ill do that this weekend as the motor gets pulled.

as I was in the garage most of the day i did not notice that Snowmegeddon had started again with our 4th big storm of the year on the East Coast.

hopefully the Racedeck flooring can handle the snow load as i should be ordering it shortly after i drag the car out of the garage.

looks can be deceiving, its lived a hard life and i put a new floor in a few years back but the rear quarters are done, needs work around the front struts and the bottom of a few doors are getting soft. I just don't have it in me to respray this car a third time, or for that matter to fix the quarters properly again a 4th time.

i made about 4X the money in pieces that i would have as a whole. Everything i had was the rare/hard to find pieces that everyone is always willing to pay for.

The car needed to much body work for me to justify keeping it any longer, plus I have 2 daily's to use and only put a few tanks of fuel through that car since 2013.

Its never an easy task dissembling something you slaved over for so long. Luckily all of my projects have only been 3 years long at the most, but my brother went through the exact same thing as you with his 90 Quattro. It tore him apart to see it leave, but the rust was just too much.

I took a lesson from his experience, and decided to buy a clean car, that hasnt seen a winter, and will build off that. No chance of rust being a factor, its just other drivers I have to worry about, knock on wood.
