Along with building our house (with a 24x24 attached garage), we are building a 24x40x12 pole barn for car storage. I'll post pics as often as I can, I'll be taking pictures daily! Here's what I have so far:

Very well done! It is finished so nicely I would hate to call it a pole barn. Did you permit it? (I assume so with the new house construction.)

Looks great. Nice house, too.

Thanks!

I see you're from Alabama... My son would love it if this house was built in Alabama! My wife's family is from down there, between Athens and Florence (a little town named Anderson). He wants to move down there so bad!!

Nice looking place! I see you are from Grafton, I am currently building a house in Wakeman. Are you building it yourself or did you hire one of the local builders?

Beth-lyn builders out of Oberlin is building mine. The owner used to be with Calvin Smith builders. It's going up fast, what you see here was only staked out on a vacant lot 2 months ago! The house is getting geothermal heating, and the ground grid is already in- along with the mound septic system.

Who's building yours??

By the way, I see you're a UAW member. Where do you work?

Greg, I am the G.C. on our house and doing about 1/3 of the actual building. Needless to say it isn't going as quickly as yours. We started in July and hope to move in in about a month. We went with the geo as well. Couldn't pass it up with the tax break. I work at KBI in Sandusky. It used to be GM then it was Delphi and now KBI. We make the spindle bearings for the GM cars. I am a toolmaker. Here is a link to my build:

That's a beautiful place you have there! How much land do you have?? The reason I asked about the UAW is because I'm a former Ford worker at the Cleveland Engine Plant. I left there to go back to the electric company that I was laid off from after 10 years.

Well I was just down there in Alabama, but not for the enjoyment. My wife's grandmother died and it was a little rough. My son isn't taking it too well because he loves it so much down there and they have to sell the house. My wife's uncle, who also lives down there is being transfered by GM to Lansing, Michigan, so we don't know how much we'll be heading down there any more...

Nice place you have going up. When is the house going to be done? Late Jan or so? I'm sure your looking forward to moving in.

I grew up in Medina County so I'm not far from you. Wish I was still up in Ohio but I joined the service after high school and still haven't made it back. Wife says she'll never live in Ohio so the only way I'll get back there is without her. Oh well.

We'll probably be in around the first part of February. Tell your wife she's missing some beautiful snow right now... (or did you get some in that last storm that hit the Virginias so bad?)
