Hey Drives thanks. Yes the lights are permanent (for now) LED's got the idea from a buddy in Calgary they give off a ton of light and are not effected by temp change like a florescent tube light can be. they do look very industrial but every time I open my wallet to get cool looking stuff I have to tell my self that this is a shop...

This weekend I got the bathroom almost finished just a few little things to button up... The heater is hung in the shop and work's well. Walls in the shop are primed and sanded ready for paint...

STYX: any updates or was it your 2 weeks to work 24/7? Happy to hear the inset garage door is working like you hoped and i really like that outside office you built.
I can't recall if you put plumbing in your garage, but i put hot water out the front of mine 30 years ago and i use it a lot. great for washing cars and your stuff if you have an option to put one in i'd recommend it highly.

Hey drives, seems like I've been working 24/7 when I'm not at work I'm out here... been doing lots of side jobs for friends and family. Trying to get caught up on the things I've been putting off around the house too. As for work on the shop it's going slow and steady. A couple hours here and there . I did put in plumbing and I have a little 8 gallon water heater should be good for what I need. I do like the idea of warm water for washing cars. I'll keep that in mind.

The fan is a 14 inch I pulled off the blades and reversed them so it works in reverse to pressurize the shop. Then I can open a window or door where I want the air to go out. I haven't had a chance to try it much yet but it seems to work well... less dust stirred up...
We will see if it was worth the bother when I do a re spray on my spitfire...

When and where is the Hagerty Spring Thaw??? and is it class specific??? My spitty is well, not stock. I'm running rotary power... I'm still a ways away from finished as well...
Ajustable: yes the ceiling makes it feel so much bigger and having the loft for my "man cave" is awesome...
JonnieMo: thanks. What part of cow town you in??? my buddy moved to airdrie (sp) a couple years ago and works at the airport for one of the airlines thats name sounds like lestjet...lol... He was a big part of my inspiration and planing on my shop...

How are you a classic car owner in BC and not know about the Hagerty Spring Thaw?! Apparently I still have Marketing work to do. The Spring Thaw happens every year on the last weekend of April, or first weekend of May. It's three days of driving through the best roads BC has to offer. Our vehicle eligibility rules are simply 1979 or earlier, with no preference or prejudice given to make, model or modifications. It's pretty much the only event where you'll find a genuine Shelby Cobra Big Block parked next to a Renault R5 at the evening hotel. More info on the Classic Car Adventures website.

It's been a WIP since1997 for me... But the story is far more than that...lol...
In 1975 my older brother bought the car off the original owner and made it his grade 12 shop project he did paint and a stereo and the regular stuff on it and drove it for a year... Then he went off to university and the car sat at my parents place... and sat... and sat... In 1986 my uncle bought it off my bro so I got it started and running for him... He drove it from my parents place in Abbotsford to Langley (40km) and shut it off... that was the last time this car has moved under its own power... He ended up moving to OK Falls (okanagon valley BC) and trailered it there... In 1996 I stayed with them when training for and competing in Ironman Canada. I said to my uncle that if he hasnt got the old girl running by next year when I came to do the race again I was going to take it home with me... Well a week before the race I called my cousin up and asked if her dad had done anything on the spitfire. She said bring the trailer he hasn't even looked at it. so I finished the race loaded the car up on a trailer and brought it home with me. parked it in the vary spot my uncle drove it away from some 11 year earlier... AND IT SAT...lol...
Fast forward a few years and the car is stripped down sitting in parts now in a small garage crying under it's own skin. And I decide to take a leave from automotive tech and take a job as a high school auto shop teacher. My wife says why not take that darn car to school and see what the kids can do on it?... so on to the trailer it goes and the kids eat it up... We strip it down to bare metal we weld in new floor pans we mod the frame to fit a 1986 mazda B12 rotary and 5 speed we remarry the body to the frame and sand it to a fine finish ready for paint. Well my previous employer was begging me to come back and with a ticketed teacher wanting my position I decided that my 2 years of being a teacher were soon to come to a close. I left a great job that I loved and returned to the automotive industry

Yes sir! Building a whole house with attached 1000sqft garage. Builder will be drywalling the living space but I'll be doing the garage (or subbing it out hopefully!)
Cool story about the car. Hopefully I'll see it on the roads here eventually. One of the reasons for my new monster garage is so that I can finally pursue my dream of building a Shelby Cobra replica.

Two weeks without a post. We're gettin' nervous out here. Any updates? We know you're getting close, but there's always the little finishing details.
Sorry for no updates... Christmas was very busy for us here. I had to get the cave finished because we had a lot of family over and we needed the room...
Another great way to justify building the shop right...lol...
Getting a sofa-bed up there was another story tho... the first one we ordered was no way getting up the stairs. That was a shame it's the one I really liked. Ended up going back and ordering another one that could be delivered by the 23rd (just in time)... when it showed up it was not looking good but I told them there was no options it had to go up there...
Ended up having to take the tread off the first step after the landing and sneaking it up. All's good now...
Been building benches for the shop and wiring in the security camera's.
I'll post up pictures soon...

So, I have to ask. Back in post #170, you have a picture of the garage door track. How much of a pain was that, or did you just get lucky?
Having a hell of a time downloading pictures on my phone again... or I would show pictures of the progress... arrrrgggg...
As for the door it was a royal pain in the *** had great installers tho... they cut an inch off the side rails and shifted the door over as far as possible... Ended up having to re case the door with another 2x10 and a 2x4 brush face trim worked out ok and looks great...
I'll figure out the picture thing and post some up soon...

STYX: what kind of phone do you own? still having issues downloading to your phone or downloading pics to GJ?
Been far to long since I posted anything on here. Been sooooooo busy with work and family and stuff.
My 14 year old boy wanted to have some friends over for an "awake over" (like a sleep over but they stay up all night and play video games). So I let them use the shop... 10 kids in there and they had a blast.
I finally got around to getting my electrical final inspection done today and I passed with no issues. Once it dries up here I will finish off the outside and a few little things on the inside and get the final inspection done on the building. We got hit hard with snow this year. at one point we had nearly 4 feet of snow. For this area that was huge. But it looks like winter is about over now as the temps are starting to rise and spring is getting close. I hear the east coast is in for a blast tonight. Stay warm people...
Still haven’t spent the time to fix my picture issues but some day I will break down and post up some pictures for you all...

STYX: i hope you get that picture thing worked out so we can see your cool garage. was it your son's BDay or just a day (or night) for him and his buddies to bond some? more DAD OF THE YEAR points go to you and nothing better than having your son and his friends overnight for a little quality time. at least you know where they are. i'm guessing they might have ate a fridge worth of food cause you can't fill a 14 year old up if i recall correctly.
cheers and we are 40's and raining here in Seattle and hoping for some heat and sunshine too. with 4 feet of snow do you have huge drifts caused by the wind or is it pretty calm and you just have snow plows keeping the roads clear?

Oh wait LordD it gets better. One of the guys from work was doing a refit on his benches and sold me his old top for it... 1/16 inch steel for relitivly cheep...
Fit like it was made for it. And I had built the benches a month before I knew about it...

funny your picture loading is only 3 at a time. are you loading from a cell phone or Ipad? i've heard of members only being only able to load one picture at a time, but not 3. very odd.
keep trying and looks and sounds like your garage is maybe going back in full gear now that the winter season is in the past? when it snowed that much did your inset garage door help a lot or did you even go in the big garage door during that time?
