I have posted some pics in the past, but did not know how to "insert" the pictures into the thread vice as an attachment. I find that inserting them is easier for all to view, so I am reposting some pics to so the group can see what I have been up to.
I had limitations for what I can build in my neighborhood, but the the basic rule is, it has to match the house and 15 feet from the power lines. So I did a stick build and researched this group for a long time to see what others have done and gain ideas.
This is a four bay garage, overall width is 57 feet and overall depth is 30 feet. The garage doors are 10 ft wide, 9 ft tall (best choice ever!) and insulated. Door openers are side mount jack shaft motors by Lift master. I can get my truck in and out with mirrors out.
The far left bay has a cathedral ceiling for a lift. The other three bays has a ceiling height of roughly 11-1/2 ft. Upstairs is a 14x36 ft long space for storage with four active dormers across the front roof line.
The upstairs will be finished at a later date. Need to make some decisions on climate control for up there, but it will be insulated and dry walled.
I have fourteen 8 ft long lights in the work area. Lights up the garage very nice. I am not sure where I want the 240V drops yet, so I left the walls open. I have installed all the 20 amp outlets throughout the garage already, jut not sure on the 240V spots. I have still have to insulate and dry wall as well.
An 80 gal 2 stage air compressor will be coming soon. Still researching which one to go with. Looking at tire changing equipment as well.
Floor has some shrink cracks that will deal with once the slab goes through its first freeze. Found a product by Raydon Seal to deal with it. Then some sort of floor treatment. I thought of polishing and some sort of epoxy color, but believe I will just go with an clear epoxy concrete sealer by Legacy Industries whom I have spoke with. Just can see expending a lot of money into the floor to make it look beautiful just to have scuffed, scratched etc. If this was a show room, sure, but I plan to work in the garage, not watch TV. By the way, NO TV, this is for work!
I got a Challenger two post lift installed last week for my Christmas gift. Its Model CL10V3-2. I hand many sleepless nights debating what lift to go with and my gut led me to the Challenger and I could be any happier with it. Lots of debates on here about what lift is better. Just read all you can and go with your gut is all I can say. You want to feel safe under the lift as well and be safe.
I hope you all enjoy the pictures and thank you all for posting all of yours allowing my to use ideas on this site to design and build my garage.
