Drywall Completed!

Hi,

The drywall is completed and everything is painted. It looks awesome! I also installed heater and will have floor epoxied this week to complete build. I will post more pics after floor gets done.

The finished product looks great. Great size. I like how you had the interior finished and the heater installed. Did you insulate the walls & ceiling before drywall?

Are you going to put any gutters on the garage?

Floor is finished!

Here are pics of the finished epoxy floor with clearcoat installed. Turned out great! Now waiting for it to cure before I can drive on it.

Looks great! And are you happy with the amount of red? No pink cast to it? (I have 33.33333% red in mine, and don't notice it being "pink", so, was curious after the color-selection thread.)

Hi, I love the amount of red in it. It does not look pink at all. It looks mostly beige like we wanted it to with the red that matches the siding of the garage.

I will take some more pics in the next few days and at night. I will also continue to post more once workbench is installed along with caninets that are being made. There is still a lot of finish work that has to be done. I am going to be painting the bottom 3' or so of the walls a different color too. I am very happy with how everything is turning out so far.

Thanks, I cant wait to be able to park the cars in here. Next wednesday the floor will be fully cured.

I painted the bottom part of the walls grey today. I am thinking about doing a stripe in the color of the siding on the garage between the grey & the white. I havent made up my mind yet. Here are a few more pics.

Your garage looks very nice but I have a question. Does the slab have a slope to it? If so why?

Also does your heater run off of Natural Gas or Propane?

All the garages I have seen the slab has been poured level.

thanks,

Yes it does have a slight pitch for proper drainage. It is not noticable when your in the garage.

The heater runs on natural gas.

Nice garage build - first time I've seen this thread. Why did you use EMT for wiring rather than just romex if you were having the interior finished?

Thanks, I went with emt because if I ever have to pull wire, add circuits, etc, it will be very easy to do.

Ha! I was just gonna ask the same thing. ;)

I don't know that I've ever seen conduit used in garage wiring except on concrete or metal walls.

Did you get electric for the $20K price?

Wow...beautiful garage. You'e basically built the exact garage I'm planning for my backyard up here in Ontario, Canada. I'll be drawing on your pics for inspiration. Thanks for posting.

When I first started reading your thread, I wondered about the tearing down of the original garage. Seeing the finished project, I think it was a wise move, nice job.

BTW, I think if you ever sell your place, that garage will be the selling point that moves it right off the market into a contract.

How about a picture from the street showing the driveway, end of house with the new garage in the background.

Thanks Everyone!

I will try to take some new pictures of the garage tomorrow. I just finished building a small mudroom addition on the side of the house which will show up in the pictures. It compliments the house & garage.

Just read through the entire thread . . . . fabulous results & very useful large garage in back yard.

Really curious how you convinced the permit/"Village" folks to let you build so close to property line . . .
. . . is that like 4 or 5 feet ??

Also, have you considered adding a "Pergola" roof or carport of some sort that is oversized and tall where the old garage was next to house??

While I was house hunting, couple old houses I saw with single car garages, I was planning to blow out back wall and just make that skinny garage a drive-thru to get to garage in back yard!! However, ended up finding house with nearly 4 car garage. With your old garage, it "could" have become a drive-thru but would need widened and also add full rafters so you'd have proper roofline and storage above "drive-thru carport.

Love your result, and wow with epoxy floors, your garage is excellent!!

I still didn't get a chance to take daytime pictures, I'll try tomorrow. Here are a few I took tonight

The village allowed the garage to be 3' from the right side property line & 5' from the rear.

I did consider making it a car port but changed my mind when I started to design everything. I added a mudroom on the side of the house with the driveway which you will see when I post some more pictures. I might add a small pergola in front of the mudroom.

I love the epoxy floor! I had it professionally done and it was well worth it. Everyone that see's it loves it.

How long do you have to let the concrete cure before you can put epoxy on like this? A lot of people say 90 days but I've seen people apply it way sooner than that?

Garage looks fantastic btw, I love the floor.

Thanks,

I love the floor too, glad we spent the money to get it done right.

I didn't get it done untill the following year after I was finished with insulation & drywall. I would wait at least 90days before I would do it. You want the concrete to be completely done curing.
