Just got the new lift installed. When I purchased the new lift I was told the frame cradle pads where not available and on back order. That just sucked, so I am going make my own but need some help from you Guys as to dimensions of BendPaks older model or something similar to compare with. What I have in mind is using a section of 5" x 5" x 3/8" tubing I have. I am thinking of sawing off a 5" piece and then sawing it across to form a 'U' , 5" long x 5" wide x ?? high :dunno:. The post size of BendPak is 2 3/8". I would like some advice as to: will the 5x5x3/8 tubing work ok, would you use cold or hot rolled shafting and would you drill a 2 3/8 hole in bottom to insert post and weld or just **** weld ? As to the rubber how thick would I want in bottom ? Tools are no problem as I have large bandsaw, mag drill and 2 3/8 carbide bit, lathe and welder which should allow making these in short time, once I figure out what to do. Sorry for being so long winded.

I would use 3/8-7/16" flat plate, then weld on solid round stock on the edges to create your u cradle
I would bore out the post to fit flush into the pad and weld top and bottom

Does anyone have the BendPak or older version or others frame cradles they could measure for me? Making these myself is simple if I have the dimensions and they will be as safe as there's and save $200. I have the tools and material.

I bought the new style frame cradle pads a few weeks ago. BendPak said they would not be shipping until November but I got them delivered early. You should call another supplier if you are having trouble getting them.

I called all the dealers on the internet as well BendPaK . No one had the new ones and all said middle to late November. I need to pull my truck ****** now and they do not recommend using the pad furnished with my new lift. Would you mind measuring yours as to lg, wdt, lip and thickness of material. I cant wait to fix my truck. I will build something in a couple of days. Thanks much.

Lift it with current pads, just take care on placement
If you want rotarys specs for a 12k of frame adaptors I can get you them in am
FYI my 12k has rubber bolted to them
My 18k is flat steel on bottom with rubber inserts on a metal clip you can install. I never use the rubber unless I am lifting truck cabs off frame by the body panels on that lift

My rubber pads on my 12k frame pads are all destroyed from for superduty radias arms with the sharp edges on the bottom

For the new "S" lifts, what about getting another set of screw up pads to modify by welding 2 sides on them. Then you could level some trucks a little better. What do you think?

I know at least some of the Rotary truck pads have screw height adjustment.

Well I cut out the 5x5x3/8 and cold rolled as I described in first post. All I like is to add a seating collar as shown by Steven's post and finish welding and paint.

You Guys might find this interesting. I was at Wallayworld and I though I would go to the service dept and see what they were lifting pickup's with. The boss showed me the extensions they were using, and I asked are you not using frame cradles. He did not have clue what I was talking about. I went to Wallayworld in another town and got the same response, no clue. Then stopped at a large tire chain in our area, same thing never used them. I then put my 95 Bronco on the lift with the furnished pads and they worked great and looked very safe. I then noticed how the frame was made and that the frame cradles might be safer (if your a goofus) but will be a poor fit. Don't know how the fit will be on pickups. Looks like the lift Mfg's are Lawyering Up. Just my 2 cents worth.
