Today's progress..... not much done but keep in mind that I am alone most of the time and my nailer is broken so I have to nail all of the stuff the old way (by hand with a good ol' Estwing hammer)... :p

Completely finished the 2nd floor ceiling insulation with R-40... Now the only remaining parts to be insulated are 2 walls on the first floor!

photo0396t.jpg

Stapled the vapor barrier up to the top and nailed in more stuffing! Very hard to install 16' 1"x4" when you're alone!!! :S looll

Thanks for looking!

I don't envy you working with all that insulation. Its looking good, that should help keep the heat in.

Yeahh... at the end it was kinda itchy just by looking at it! :p There is, I think, around 12 packs of R40 in the ceiling downstairs and those trusses... Oh well, it's done now and it sure does help to keep the heat in, just my two spotlights kinda gives me some heat now compared to before!
With all that being said, we have a nice little pellet stove coming in this weekend that we need to install....that will sure heat up the place and help me get more work done faster!

Loool! Around here, all I have are black little squirrels running around everywhere!

Anyway, it won't be on all the time...only when working in the shop! That's why I installed two 4000W electrical heater, those will be to keep the garage above freezing temps... But for now the electric doesn't work because I haven't got time to pass the wire between the house main panel to the garage panel!

This is a beautiful build! I can't believe I missed it until now. It looks great Carl. I'm looking forward to seeing the siding.

Are they plans for a fence and gate between the house and the garage? If so I'd love to see your plans or how it turns out. I'm at that stage in my project.

Thanks Brone1! Nope no electric heaters upstairs.... Both are installed downstairs and the pellet stove will be centered on the back wall in the center. There will also be a ceiling fan installed in the middle of the garage to help circulating the air. Pictures coming soon later today! ;)

Thanks for the comments James 993! Unfortunately, siding will only be done when snow is gone... so in a couple months!

As for the fence/gate, wasn't thinking about this yet but it could be a nice idea...something built with wood and then tinted would probably look good!

can see half the pics

Uhmmm...maybe try to refresh the page cuz I just tried to look at every page and took a look at my imageshack account and everything works fine....
Let me know!

Merci P_mori7! ;)

Well, not much done this weekend because the guy who placed my order for the pellet stove f***** it up and ordered a firestop instead of a wall thimble so I can't install the stove and it's freezing cold working in there!

There was some specials at home depot so we bought 10 Lithonia Lightning T8 Fixture and some BEHR Primer paint for the future walls...

Well...here's the pictures!

Worked a little bit on the electrical panel.... how's the installation!?

img4076x.jpg

That's the little pellet stove! :) Enviro Mini

img4079.jpg

Completely finished the stuffing on one side of the walls upstairs.... gotta wait to receive some more Romex so I can wire the lights before putting up the rest of the vapor barrier and stuffing!

img4081z.jpg

Ohhh, and the deal on the 10 Lithonia Lighting that will provide me light in the future!

Thanks JMisora!

Sooo today we picked up a good venting kit for the pellet stove and I started installation... Had some questions before cutting the hole in my exterior sheathing so I took some picture and posted a new thread here! :p

Anyway here's some part of the installation, I stopped because it was really freezing cold today (-20C)!

Pellet stove is now on the ground and I installed most of the vent pipe... marked the desired position of the wall thimble!

Hey! Sorry if there was no update this week but it was one of the coldest week this winter with temps down to -22C and also I worked full time at my job...

Anyway, today I finally finished installing the pellet stove and fired it up! Made some space upstairs to finish the other side of the walls... Also worked on finishing the insulation downstairs! I am just waiting on some wiring to be able to finish upstairs...

Now, picture time! ;)

Here's a little preview of what I was working on this week...

photo0412.jpg

Cutted a hole in my wall to install the wall thimble!

photo0422e.jpg

Insulation on side walls...

photo0423.jpg

More insulation!

photo0424.jpg

It took the whole day to get a little bit of heat because everything was freezing cold in there... should be better tomorrow! That means...more work done! ;)

Will have more pics this week-end because I will be working on it....
Sorry, been busy with school and work lately and haven't got much time to work in the garage!
Also the temperature just started going back up and since the garage is not heated all the time it was freezing cold in there!

Sure, start a thread in the sheet metal projects section.I for one would be watching.Planes are cool.

Will sure do then! ;) Where is the sheet metal projects section...can't seem to find it!?

Okkk so now, it's been a while but here is a little update and more pictures!

I finished up another part of the back wall with polyethylene and it's ready for stuffing!

Also, the pellet stove was a little bit too small, so we got a better deal and exchange it to a bigger one for a heck of a good price! Almost too nice for the garage! ;p looolll

I gotta install the new stove and finally received my romex wire so I will be working in the garage this week-end so more picture to come...

Picture time...

Installing polyethylene membrane...

A little picture of the upstairs for the curious ones! ;) Half of the place is now used as a temporary storage room and the other half is the gym getting set up! :)

Thanks for all your replies!

So I found some time to work a little in my garage today.... Finished up some more electrical work and preparing the walls for drywall! Will start drywall installation pretty soon....
Also had a hard time figuring out how to mount the T8 Fixture because they need to be on top of a junction box and the opening for the junction box falls right in the middle of my beams!!!?

Here's the pictures...

Added plugs to the last wall and prewired them...

photo0475k.jpg

More work on the main panel... Added the two garage heater!

photo0480.jpg

Putting up the vapor barrier...

photo0474n.jpg

Installing the 1x4 over the vapor barrier...

photo0479r.jpg

photo0481w.jpg

photo0482b.jpg

That wall is now ready for drywall to be installed! :)

And here is my little problem now.... seems that no matter how I put them up, the damn opening in the fixture falls in a beam so I can't install a junction box!!

Aright... got a little bit more work done this week end!
Didn't get the drywall in or the 10-2 wire but it's all suppose to be coming in this week! I need to make some space first and finish work on my worktable!

Anyway, here's the picture for this week end works!

Added a plug on top of a wall for future neon sign...it's on a switch and also wired with a light in the stairs!

photo0486k.jpg

Installed the box for the compressor...still waiting on some 10-2 wire to be able to close up that last wall!

photo0489m.jpg

Prewired all lighting switches...

photo0491j.jpg

Shop dog found it's spot! ;p

photo0492.jpg

Finished the stuffing on another wall... also added some vertical one for easier cabinet installation!

photo0493w.jpg

Installation of a timer switch for exterior lights...

photo0494.jpg

That's it for this week....
Stay tune for more pics!

Thanks

You going to put some vapor barrier behind that electrical box?

Yes I will... I will cut a small piece of vapor barrier and place it behind and tape it to the front one! But I won't go crazy on perfectly sealing all the small cracks in the vapor barrier everywhere...it's not a novo-climat, it's a garage after all! :p

As for this week end work... here are some pictures!

Started finishing the back wall... started installing plugs... passed the wire for the 240V compressor/lift plug. Also worked on my workshop table, will only need to install a top on it!

Now here's the pictures!

More work done on my table... needs bottom shelf and a top plate!
photo0506q.jpg

Bottom shelf installed on worktable...

Vapor Barrier installation on the back wall...
photo0509n.jpg

photo0510t.jpg

Wired the compressor/lift 240V plug!
photo0507d.jpg

Started wiring in the plugs...
photo0512d.jpg

Doubler installed for air hose reel!
photo0514p.jpg

Marked the stove bottom plate on the floor for future ceramic tile installation!
photo0513j.jpg

Well that's it for this week.... stay tune for more pics!

Thanks for all your comments and for watching!
