I got this 120v hoist for free and it did not have the pendant with it just the cable with 4 wires. This is the wiring diagram for it. Does any one know what kinda of switch I need? I had ordered one from Amazon and sent it back as it wasn’t really the right one.

Harbor Freight sells a 1500# 120vac electric winch that has the same wiring diagram. Its pendant controller is also 4-wire.

The complete wiring diagram can be found if you look up the similar warn 120v winch (same as HF just minor styling differences.)

I added the Warn manual. Possibly cheaper to buy replacement pendant from HF instead.

Is there anything on Amazon that would work? I am in Canada for no harbour freight. I can’t seem to find the replacement pendant for the warn winch.

Maybe Princess Auto - they seem to sell a lot of the same stuff as Harbor Freight... Steve

If you Google Dutton lainson winch parts, all parts are available from the company. FWIW, that's a winch and not a hoist which means it's made for dragging stuff rather than lifting.

Your hoist motor is a 100Vdc motor different from the harbor freight motors that are ac. Which is nicer if you have other projects in mind. As long as you are not missing any electronics like the varistor and the bridge rectifier. You can use any pendulum that have a dpdt with center off switch to control it. At least from your diagram the black white are your pos neg and red blue are power to the dc motor. Most eBay pendulum are dpdt center off I think.

Interesting, I thought it was the hoist one shown on their web site in the neat packing room lifting.

The HF winch I mentioned rectifies ac for the dc motor it uses. I took mine apart to troubleshoot and confirmed the circuitry and found the brushes to be the problem. There are several winches on the market all using the same control scheme. (HF uses a motor with sh*tty brush holders.)

This one will work....you need the 4 NO contacts and has 16a rated contacts. The description is wrong, it is only one speed (copy paste error).

The e-stop is not needed but it's easy to wire in to the circuit.

That is a DC voltage motor and all they are doing is reversing the polarity of the incoming power. You need a DPDT switch capable of handling the motor load and wire it like this,

Yes sir. I didn’t realize that little box in the diagram was switching the AC to DC. That defiantly makes it easier.

It even says 100 volt DC on the motor.
I noticed that but was thinking about the fact that it plugs into 110v lol. I showed that diagram to an industrial electrician and he couldn’t figure it out. Showed 2 more guys today and they were able to figure it out in about 2 seconds even offered to help me make a switch.

Haha well this was a young gun, I was surprised he couldn’t figure it out TBH. I’m on the mechanical side looking to learn more about electrical!

Switching this dc motor is the same as switching most split phase cap run ac motor, the hf pendulum will work if you have access to one, only difference is you have to cut off the cap or re arrange it for filtering use.

I couldn’t find any pendants on HF that weren’t already on a winch?

Lots of hoist pendant controls on Amazon. Depends on your current draw. Might have to add relays or contacters.

I had ordered one but it ended up being a single pole double through I need DPDT and none of them specify the type. It’s a bit of a guessing game
