I spotted these in store about a week or two ago. It's identical to the Ridgid and Triton models, but comes with a free jaw capacity extension.

It's cheaper than the Jawhorse, but with smaller jaws and a less rugged-feeling frame. It's much cheaper as well, though. A good choice for the budget-conscious DIYer, imho, especially with the free extension.

That type of mobile vise is one of the handiest work holding tools I have ever owned.

I have an older model Triton that I would not trade for any of the newer versions I have seen, including the newer ones by Triton. Mine has a couple of braces that tie all three legs together at the ground and no plastic parts anywhere if that helps date it (probably only about 10 years old if that). I have used mine to hold all kinds of "stuff" from logs (using the log jaws) to clock parts (using the "engineers" jaws. But it most often serves as an excellent large capacity wood vise for woodworking in my case. No shop should be without one.

This is on sale for $99 at the moment. Has anyone used this version (or the triton or ridgid versions)? I am mostly concerned that it will hold up and isn't junk. I like that it has the extension for a sheet of plywood and the pad I can step on if I need to push or pull. I am envisioning clamping a couple of work plates to it for mitre saw and Kreg jig.

These things seem ripe for mods and pretty useful. I did some searching here and didn't see too much.
