New epoxy floor workmanship flaws?

I recently had my garage floor professionally refinished with a full-flake system with joints filled. There are a few things that I’d like opinion on.

For each of these I’m trying to decide if what I see is normal, or is poor workmanship and should bring up the issue with the contractor:

The first is the joint seams - they are visibly darker and not all that smooth.

Also, the finish doesn’t go over that lip edge at the front of the garage (where the cars enter and would taken a beating).

Finally, the epoxy coating is applied lighter at the front of the garage - to where I can brush my hand over the edge and the flakes come off. The epoxy is way thicker in some areas and thinner in others.

Any thought to these things as far as if it’s normal, or how they couldn’t have happened in the process?

Thanks!3e9f7abebab405a030732eab96e3942b.jpg

Sounds like an installer issue. My guys were like robots hitting each section with the same precision. No extra strokes here or there.

I did cut my joint seam boards even.... some were high. They used a epoxy paste on they. I’ll have to find a picture.

I’m just disappointed, wasn’t expecting that...I can’t figure how to attach pictures to show what I have.

I think you need either 5 or 10 posts to be able to post pictures. Just make some extra posts until you see the "manage attachments" section at the bottom ?

Got it - thanks!

Update:::: Thanks everyone for your input! The contractor came by and agreed that the joint lines weren’t supposed to show through. They also agreed that the topcoat was uneven. They came out today and fixed everything! I’ll be moved back in my shop in no time. 64e3ad21d2e589256847473696740b6f.jpg

Congrats on the new floor and thanks for sharing a story with a happy ending. Kudos to your contractor for responding quickly and professionally. We seem to get more of the opposite.

Absolutely! the owner came out with a different crew and the new crew immediately knew it was messed up.

In the morning they ground down the topcoat then added more epoxy and flake. They came back a couple of hours later to re-apply the topcoat.

Wow! I was reading this post and thought here comes another bad experience with a contractor scenario... Much to my surprise the contractor made it right without any hassles!

Everybody has a bad day on occasion. It's how they deal with with it afterwards that matters.

I'm impressed that the contractor acknowledged it and fixed the problem without any argument. That's somewhat rare around here.
