My backyard isn't square. Is this plan feasible? See attached pictures.

Check for side and rear lot line set back requirements. It's doubtful you can build that close to and adjoining lot.

Ditto what john2014 said. Highly doubt you can build right on the property line. Herebin my town its 10ft setbacks from every property line. Your town will likely differ.

Also I understand the shape you have chosen for maximum car parking with minimal footprint but I would suggest squaring the "left" side making a little extra storage space.

City said I can build 2ft from property line as long as the garage is at least 10ft from the house. In this design, it is 16ft at its closest point. I assume the 2ft is measured from the soffit and it the base?

I had it square bit changed it which would allow me to drive in/out easier and it occupies what would be unused yard space. Or do you mean still have part of the structure stick out there but square it?

Any overhang determines setback distance....including the gutters on the soffits.
I had a 5 ft setback on my property so 2 ft is nice!
Having said all that, adding a non square building is gonna be pricey to grab that extra piece of turf...is it really worth the cost?
I imagine the custom work on the roof will add to the cost, hope your not planning on a hip roof?

in my area , when they say the setback ,it is the building that has to be set back 2' , the soffits & trough were something like 8" from the property line. ask your zoning dept to confirm.

See that probably also depends on building style. Its not unheard of to have 2ft+ overhang one eves and gables.

right, when I built my garage, they said the setback was 2'. I asked if that was to the eaves or the building, they said to the building. the eaves need minimum 8" from the property line. I did 1' overhang then the trough . If I wanted 2' overhang & trough I would have had to set the building back sufficiently to allow an 8" clearance on the trough to the neighbors.

That makes sense.

I have a 3ft setback requirement from the rear property line and 5ft from the sides. The concrete contractor I hired made sure I was legal.

As to the angled end, I can only see contributing problems to roofing the garage. I too think it would be better to square it off as you'll not loose much in square footage, and just add a like amount to the other end if desired.

Some places allow building on the peoperty line if non combustible.

OP, are you sure you want to use up so much of the rear yard and making the peoperty less salable?

I'm thinking I'm thinking this would make it more salable. There is still front and side yard. And we have a huge middle school yard and separate track/field across the street.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Probably not going to happen as i won't be able to convince the wife. She wants to move. I want to stay and improve.

If the wife ain't happy, no one is happy. :Homer:

In real life I'm not that sexist, but there's a lot of truth to that statement.

I updated the attached drawings; is that what you had in mind?
