Wow. It's about time.

I like the quality on the 56" box, but it's still too rich for my blood. I'll keep using my 44" from when you could buy them with 20% off coupons. I'm happy with my $279 outlay.

Even at $369 the 44" is a good deal, but for me its just not enough space and with my garage layout I dont have room for two of them. And the new Menards is about the same price but I didnt like the drawer layout. This should be about perfect.

Talk about an item they will never have in stock. It will take forever for them to catch up with all of the bottoms they've already sold. I'll have a lot of things to rearrange just to get that, but it will happen. Not sure what I'll do with the Blue Point on top but it'll be fine.

Yeah, I noticed that the new items take forever to be updated on the website.

Thanks OP! I am glad to know HF did listen to their customers.

I wonder when it will go on sale or have coupon?

This is hilarious considering how many people argued, until they were blue in the face, over whether or not the bottom could support a top box.

I feel like looking up that thread and PM them all.

Those have been "out" for quite a while now, just that HF didn't sell them. You could get them through Northern as the Torin brand. They also have tops for the 72/75" that HF / Northern sell

Not a top and bottom of equal size.

You haven't looked hard enough :)

You wouldn't even need a full size top to make up the storage space since the HF box is shallower than most of the truck boxes. I bought my KRL7002 for 1100. It's close to 29" deep and with the ~300 extra bucks I'm sure I could find a top chest or side box that would bring the storage numbers about on par with each other.

Don't get me wrong here I'm not trying to bash the HF boxes. I think their smaller box for ~300 is a bargain and is more the adequate for 90% of the people who don't wrench professionally. However once you start spending over 1k some really nice used box options open up to you. I just couldn't spend that much on an HF item. Everything I buy from them I consider disposable.

Cheapest Snap On cabinet in this area is around 1200-1400 dollars. Only people on this forum keep repeating that myth that you can buy a used Snap On for the same money as a new HF box.

Often times if you scour CL day in and day out, you can find a deal on a truck-brand box. However, many don't have the time and often miss those deals.

I've been lucky enough to grab a couple, but I'd still argue that the only SO you're likely to find at this price and this size would either be a KRA which isn't any better quality (I've owned one), or a 20 year or KR (that may or may not have ball bearing slides). Those old KR boxes are extremely solid, but most have lived a long hard life and have seen better days.

I've done it multiple times.

I have since sold the KR stack to my SO rep. Got 500 cash, new liners for my KRL7002 and 5 sets of slides so I could max out the slides on all the drawers and a new lock and keys. I only have 500 bucks in this KRL7002.

Top and bottom in that price the only thing you are going to find is a KRA. If it is in that price range it is beat and something I wouldn't want anyway. The 7022 is close in size especially when you factor in the 1.5 inch trim they put on them to come up with their depth measurement. You do not get a lot of extra room in that box and you are going to pay at least twice of the HF combo just for the bottom.

I called this months ago. This rarely happens so I feel ok gloating a bit. Here is from my post (#41) from the HF 56"vs 42" thread...

"I have a Lista bench with two drawers and they definitely feel thicker than the HF. I think the HF might be closer to 20 as you mentioned. As far as putting a top box on . . . the reasons the 42" has the higher rating is because HF MAKES a top box and side boxes for it. If you go by drawer weight the 56" has about a 50% larger capacity. The below is a quote from an earlier post of mine:

"As far as strength there are a few differences. The 56" has two pieces of angle iron on the underside of the box running front to back and roughly 16" from each set of casters and each other. The 42" has no such supports. The 42" has one support on the underside of the top running the length of the box that is approximately 3-4 inches in width. The 56" has two of these."

If HF made a top box for the 56" they would revise these numbers. I think this is strictly a marketing ploy. The "no standing" is just some cya from the lawyers. The 56" can hold a top cabinet without any problem and will definitely support more weight than the 42"."

Actually, the more I think about it...might just get (2) 44".

$1300 for the 56" and $1356 for two 44" with top and bottom.

Yeah... I still prefer more, smaller drawers, over fewer larger drawers. The height of the drawers in the 56" is just too much for me even though I prefer the length and depth :(

CL is a joke in my area. Come to think of it so are all the tool trucks. They won't even come to our shop. At one time a tech came in that owed money and they wouldn't even come to collect it lol

As for the HF box. I wish it was deeper :(
