Things get interesting when pressure drops!
I installed three Mitsubishi Diamondback line sets in the Montiecello cabin. 80’,50’, and 30’ sets. All of them were equally challenging. When the AC guys came out to commission, they couldn’t vacuum the system down.
when they pressurized the system with nitrogen, the 30’ line set was split from flare to flare.

Hooray John!. Hey what's the deal with that revile. Is your framing going to be even with it and your siding cover over it or flush with the finish grade. BTW, either way I like that idea it solves a ton of issues sealing water migration under the wall - was it your idear?.

Cam, the 2x4 reveal is the design of the building manufacturer, one of the reasons why I went with them. It is a smart design. The slab is 7" wider and longer than the building frame. Only change I made was to rip a bevel on a 2x6 to extend and slope to the garage doors since they'll sit back further.

TF, congrats on that milestone of getting your slab poured. I hope the results are to your liking, now comes the hard part, waiting for the building.

Some pics. Control joints cut. Decided on minimal number of cuts. Slab is 4.5 inches @ 4500psi .
Pic of the beveled areas in front of garage doors. For some reason there were a lot of bubbles in the concrete where the 2x4's were for the edge step. 20210604_143807.jpg20210604_143827.jpg20210604_143903.jpg20210604_143925.jpg

After hosing off all the dust from control joint cuts, this is all the standing water that remains.
Also, drove to Mississippi yesterday to pick up a Powermatic 20", 5hp planer for the shop. The only major things needed now are the DC system and compressor. 20210604_200852.jpg20210604_200901.jpg20210605_095906.jpg

TF, didn’t you have a lot of PM tools at your Whidbey shop or am I thinking of someone else on GJ? Nice score on that planer, it looks like a beast.

Only PM tool I had (still do) was a mortiser . You might be thinking of Odis ?
This planer is an upgrade from my Grizzly. And the PM jointer is a nice addition.
As I add more machines to this shop I can't help envisioning Shorty swooping in to offer my wife pennies on the dollar for them immediately after I die. :shocking:

Update : I found a great drainage product that has a core of a sheet of ABS "pimples" covered on both sides with heavy non-woven geotextile fabric. Comes in rolls of 48" x 50'. Attached to the taller sections of my retaining wall with concrete screws and fender washers. This allows water to migrate straight down the face of the wall to the perf PVC drain pipe. I added a filter 'sock' over the PVC for insurance, buried in drain rock, then covered by a layer of geotextile fabric. Backfilled with clean fill dirt. Also installed clean-out stacks, just in case. All of this took longer than expected because I found I can only get in four hours or so a day of work before the heat wipes me out.

Had a couple of guys with machines help me with the drainage rock and backfilling. Then decided to bring more fill material in and do some of the build-up and contouring around the shop while I had them here. One load of rock and 17 loads of dirt .20210728_110417.jpg20210728_110453.jpg20210728_110635.jpg20210728_171647.jpg20210728_171650.jpg

John, you now have an outstanding flood control system. In the 45 years we've lived in Florida the worst water accumulation we ever had was a two-inch deep 25-foot wide puddle that formed when we had 17 inches of rain in one night. In the neighborhoods where the culverts under the roads got clogged with debris, the streets were more than (Lincoln Town Car) rocker panel deep. I know this because it was the morning my mother-in-law was scheduled to fly back to New York and I drove down streets by the location of street-side mailboxes.

Florida soil comes in two flavors: 1) fast draining sand and 2) black muck. I see you chose fast draining sand (the white crusher run is coarse sand).

Aren't you supposed to be out pulling crab pots or something?
What he said. And shipping them to Florida.

Metal building company sent me an email stating that they cannot give ANY idea of a delivery/install date because they are dealing with an international metal shortage and attempting to procure as much material as possible to continue to fill orders. I should rest assured that they will get to my order as soon as possible. And they even thanked me for my patience .

You know, that planer looks just like the new to me planer I have. Works great too especially on turning pallets into nice boards.

I'll post pics of new boards this weekend.

Great update, a lot done. Hopefully Labor weekend we'll have a cold one in shop.
