Damn it GJ. I just did something I never do... Pre-order something online, especially on Amazon.
Usually if it's not available, I don't buy it.

But that price was too good to pass up. $32.87 shipped. I doubt they will go for much cheaper than that.

Just got the shipping notice from KC Tool. 82-01-200’s are on the way!
Just adding to this, but our first large shipment of these arrived today. Everyone who didn't receive a shipping notification Friday, but pre-ordered should see their order ship no later than tomorrow (edit: as long as there were no other backordered items on the order). We have a few left once everyone's pre-orders are fulfilled, but those are selling quickly. Wouldn't be surprised to see this item go out of stock tonight. After that, it will likely be the end of July/August before the next batch arrives depending on how quickly Knipex can get the product out.

You're correct. I won't get in to the nitty gritty, but Knipex will require Amazon to raise their price moving forward.

If anyone has any other questions, feel free to reach out to us on social media or shoot me a PM here on Garage Journal.

Same here and no coupon to find, and $32.87 that’s a good shipped price! Now I just have to not think about it

I have the Engineer screw pliers and don't need these, but will probably get them anyway. But am I the only one that thinks 200mm length is at least 25mm more than needed for these?

Probably better not to tell customers that you are responsible for the price going up. Haha!

I've read that the companies have legal ways of getting around MAP (minimum advertised price policy) like hiding the price until the product is added to the cart. Once it's in the cart, it no longer counts as advertised. It's irritating but supposedly that's one reason Amazon does it.

Thanks for the re-assurance... Now, how do get Amazon to drop their prices?

On a more serious note, does anyone know if the price changes (up or down) between now and when these ship, will Amazon change the amount of the charge? Since Amazon doesn't charge until the item ships... Or will it stick with this "pre-order" price?

your price is locked in. they'll either send it to you for that price or cancel the order (unlikely).

My KC Tool TwinGrip pliers arrived today! Here are a few pics for those that are still waiting patiently. One thing I measured right away, was how small of a pin I can grip using the end of the pliers.

Answer- 3mm diameter.

Which means, these pliers should be able to grab and help remove any damaged screw with a head diameter of 3mm or larger as long as there's room for the pliers to access the screw head.

Great pictures!!! Thanks for sharing, mine should be here mid week. They look like vampliers hooked up with a pair of cobras

Although, I still feel Knipex should call the twingrip Piranhas :dunno:

ordered the comfort grip version on amazon earlier today. i figure the late ship date will give me a few more reviews to look at so i can decide. might end up canceling the order.

i think this could be the future of slip joint style pliers. maybe not this specific product because the teeth may be a little too sharp and aggressive, but it's headed in the right direction. i could even see this design concept potentially replacing combination pliers.

this is a good thing, because i think slip joint pliers are pretty much useless.

it's funny because i used to think they belonged in every toolbox. it was the default pliers for me.
but now... why would anyone reach for them when you have pliers wrench, cobra, or even some kind of quality combination pliers?

you can get so much more leverage and jaw/grip pressure with PWs or cobras, it's not even funny. they're much more adjustable, too. now we just need a straight version!

there will always be some perfect pair of pliers for some specific thing, but i haven't used slip joint in years. i just don't see where it fits in anymore. especially for general purpose, i think that maybe all you need is PW, cobra, long nose, and maybe a combination or linesman's.

It’s not always about grip pressure. If you do a lot of holding/pulling/manipulation of small parts or fab you’d probably find that a pair of slip joints will live in your off hand. The straight jaw is far superior when you don’t need to really twist.

I pre-ordered my pliers on June 16 and received a verification of the order on June 17. Have not heard or received anything since.

Yes, you can have coupons, you can have discounts, all kinds of things. But you can't advertise a price below MAP. Having been the North American importer and distributor for a product, I'm a big fan of MAP. Prevents price wars, and pushes vendors to sell products based on knowledge and customer service, rather than just price.

I got my Piranhas. I was gonna wait, but ended up getting in on the cheap batch.
The machining is excellent!
Ironically, I could have used them several times in the past few months.
Looking forward to putting them to work.

Cornwell guy had them in his hand when he came in. I've used them a few times, and am pleased thus far. Seeing them in my hand sold me, I was undecided via pictures on here.

I got mine the other day, I was lucky enough to get in on the cheap batch prior to Amazon raising the price. My only regret is I didn't order a second pair for my work toolbox.

I also got a package from KC Tool yesterday. The jaws open to six different positions, using a mechanism like Cobras. I'll add a couple of pics.

What does a guy from Arizona need these things for? I haven't seen a rusty bolt since I moved here 24 years ago. In Pittsburgh that's all I saw.

No one in Arizona ever cammed out a Phillips or flathead?

i agree.

also, if the issue is corrosion, i would not reach for this tool. the lever arm is the width of the tool, not even the length. good luck with that, lol. i'd try turbo sockets or something in that case.

My very first project after moving here in 2002 was rebuilding/modifying a 1974 F-40. Just the universal joints took a week soaking in Kroil before they would budge. Plenty of uses for the TwinGrip on projects.

Also, my wife has a PhD in camming out/stripping phillips heads.
