A couple of Lowes toolbox related items:
Anybody see this eyesore?

They are trying to be innovative, can't blame them for that. The problems are lots of wasted space, especially for the money, tool holders (socket, power tool) that while interesting don't accommodate enough tools for most, and it's fugly.
Also, notice how they marked this up from $99 to $129 just so they could come back a few weeks later and mark it back down to $99 and say "New Lower Price"?

^ bit ugly and looks a massive space waste, kind of like idea of flip down front making counter top area but as it then blocks lower unit drawer it not the best concept . Much better box options out there new and used in similar pricing .
Looks like it was designed by someone who's tool usage is limited to a keyboard and a cell phone, possibly a clipboard.
It is 41" with 8 drawers, #844440 and was marked down from $319 to $249. So Christmas came early for me this year. This one is going to be a grinder stand. I love the deep drawers. They will hold lots of grinding wheels and other shop stuff.

That is Lowe's new business model. They bring in something new and price it high then a week or two they drop to a "New lower price."
Decent deal for a big box. Mechanics are not the only ones that use tool boxes as construction tools are larger and this is a good fit for you. Finally a decent HF44 competitor and at a lower price.
Kobalt is not the only new toolbox at Lowes...check out the Lenox with double slides on the full-width drawer.

So are these boxes any good?
I looked at a Kobalt 42" Chest combo at Lowes this morning, Top was $250, bottom was $350, so $600 for the combo. Made in China, it looked decent.
Are there any good combo units made in USA that are reasonable in price? Say under $1200 (42" minimum width)
