Hello everyone,

I stumbled across this forum a few months ago. I lurked around for awhile and I really enjoy all the good info on here.

I have really been intrigued learning about some of the German tool manufacturers. So much so that I pulled the trigger and ordered a large set of Wera screwdrivers today. I will post some pics of them in the "tools from the old world" thread when they get here.

Nice meeting you all. Don't be afraid to say hi!

Piggy: that tools from the old world is pretty addicting so hang on to your wallet. I've owned a Fein for a few years now and it is really handy, but i saw a video of the new on Monte posted and now i want the new model which is getting close to a mortgage payment.

by the way Monte started that thread 5 years ago and if you haven't noticed he's still active and I've yet to see a tool that he doesn't know much about. he is truly probably the "Tim the tool man" of our forum if you want to know about tools made outside the US.

welcome and post pictures of some of your favorite tools, cars or pet if you have any since this is your intro thread. also to see if you know how to post pictures because at GJ you'll learn that we all like pictures.

Hello and welcome to the Garage Journal. I grew up on German cars and tools as my dad always drove German cars maintained with German tools. Germans make excellent tools, and you came to the right place as here is so much knowledge about any kinds of tool you name.

Well how about that. I could hit 895 with a well driven golf ball from my front yard. It's a small world I guess.

Nice to meet you.

Welcome from another pa guy. Used to go trail riding at tower city all the time and racing at the flying Dutchman all the time.

I'm real close to the old Flying Dutchman. It's a shame for the place now. Not much happens with track anymore. It has changed hands a few times and whoever has it now has pretty much given up. They tried running a "bar" with dancing girls a while ago, but that didn't pan out to well.

PW: just took a closer picture at your last awesome red tractor and noticed it looks like you have a half acre of gravel without a weed growing out of it. do tell how you manage to keep it so nice?

i have a 15 x 70 gravel parking area that i finally put salt on, but not sure if that is my permanent fix. here's a thread about the salt killing weeds that gets a little off track and wondering your thoughts. care to share here or make a post on my thread? here's the link

That gravel picture was just taken right after I had spread and rolled some new stone out.

I get a few weeds here and there but not too bad. I hit them with round up usually mid summer and early fall and it keeps them under control.
