I have been a fan of this site for a long time for the great ideas I've gotten over the last couple of years. I just really enjoy seeing how other folks do stuff and this site has been a lot of fun to poach ideas from. I will start with my workbench/welding table hybrid. Wanted something strong, durable, but also mobile. Got these casters several years ago and thought they'd be great for a gantry or welding table 
. This table is made with a 3' x 6' top, 1 and 5/8th thick top. The legs are 4" 0.250 wall and the cross braces are 2" 0.188 wall. The top plate weighs 1,200 lbs. All in all I think the table weighs 1,600 to 1,700 lbs- casters are 60 lbs each. Hauled the plate home in the back of my m101A3 trailer and welded the table upside down. I flipped it by winching it out of the trailer onto my other table just long enough to lift it up, get the smaller table out from under it, and lower it onto blocks- all using an engine hoist and bridge clamps. Did all this without getting too close to it as a safety margin though the clamps were up to the task and the hoist lifted it with ease. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. The casters are rated 5k each and at 12 inches diameter roll nicely. The table stays put by locking out the wheels at 90 degrees to each other though most times I don't even have to do that. I wanted a general purpose table that would double as a good welding table and so far it fills the need quite well. I spent a lot of time getting ideas from others experiences. The table in the background was my first attempt and it is 2.5' x 4' with a 5/8th top. I was able to get both tables to within a mm of each other in height if I need expanded working surface.
