Hi guys. Saw this site mentioned on another board I belong to. Great idea for a site! I see quite a few fellow Mopar nuts here.
My wife and I are renting my Mom & Dad's old house, but plan to buy it soon. It has a 2-1/2 car attached garage with no door into the house. Long story. It's my shop right now - daily cars sit outside. This is less than ideal. We are sitting on an acre lot.
The plan: Workshop/garage in the back yard. Depending on all the PITA regulations, I'm hoping for a 3 car with a little extra depth (26 feet??).
Two possibilities:
1. 8' walls with scissor trusses over one stall. This will give a taller ceiling without affecting the look from outside. The other two stalls would get the trusses that have open space in the middle for storage.
2. 8' walls with a barn-style roof. Lots of height in one stall. A useable attic over the other two stalls. Yes, it has occured to me that my wife may banish me to the "attic" by the time the project is done!
I would probably subcontract the gas/electric run and maybe the slab. Rest will be done by me, and some friends who owe me some favors. Suckers!
