I've been employed as a toolmaker for decades, made a lot of interesting machines and tooling but.... That vise beats almost anything I ever made on creativity, design capability, and nicely done execution. I am impressed sir and congratulations to both of you on a job well done.

Even more impressive is the visual demo my mind failed to fully grasp. The ease with which it's not only adjustable/locking but also can be raised/lowered at a given angle of inclination.......So very nice, wish I'd thought of it first. I do like seeing the work of others, especially when it's better than my own. Nice work fellas.

Royce, seeing that grey hair makes that portico project even more impressive! It seems to get a litter harder every year...

Cut some purple heart jaw caps today.
Milled a pocket in them to key them onto the 8"jaws and installed a couple magnets to keep them.

Hey Royce, you can't have all the fun. I finished setting up my new shop and made a set of jaws for your awesome vise. I will get them to heat treat in Colorado since out here in South Carolina I can't find a Heat Treater within driving distance. Feels good making something again.
Royce, you did a absolute top notch job building this vise.

I'm so happy your shop is now functional and you were able to perform some machine work for this project on top of all the technical assistance you provided.

This project turned out well, due to your input.
I know your humility keeps you from taking any credit, but that don't mean I can't give you some!

For the icing on the cake, just received the 3" jaws from Kevin.
They are really lovely, as always 1st cabin job.
This project was a tall order and finishes with satisfaction.
Thanks to all

Bump for an update...
What's the status of the vise today, Royce?
Finished it up a couple years ago and are using it in my shop.
It has a big footprint and I would like to sell it to make more room in the shop, as well as finance the next vise build.
It will be a difficult sell for a number of reasons.
Expense of materials, labor and freight, which limits the market down to near nothing.
It would be a thrill to see it go somewhere to be appreciated.

Royce between yours and KMs stellar reputation you won’t have any problems getting its worth. It would come as no surprise if you reached out to that collector in (I’m pretty sure) Bakersfield it’d be gone in a couple emails.

Thanks Cam,
Not sure who you are referring to though.
