That ratchet has a thinner profile, so it would fit into tighter places. That and the ratchet is likely a little easier on stuff when you are using it to tighten nuts/bolts down.

With the impact your not going to experience that just enough feel a ratchet provides when hand tightening something and so your all dependent on trusting (with the all variables) the tightness on fastener the impact can provide in the range being used.

If its any bit as good as it made out to be there are probably many jobs where it can easily replace the ratchet though.

Overall and just my own opinion here I'm not real big fan of the FUEL ratchet. I have one often I find it bulky and a bit heavy and generally prefer using the older cordless ratchet.

But for some of the work scenarios I'm using the FUEL ratchet I think the new RA impact will be the better tool especially on certain disassembly chores.

I for one will be looking forward to seeing a side by side size comparison on those two cordless tools

I see the RA Impact and the FUEL ratchet (which I have and love) as very different tools. I have and love the FUEL ratchet, but this new thing would be a competitor for my M12 Stubby. At this point, I haven't really hit a spot where one of these tools isn't working for me.

If I was a pro, I could see a Stubby and the RAI co-existing...

The Milwaukee M12 Fuel Cordless Ratchets (55 ft-lbs of torque) are too weak. They are expensive nut runners. I think this is the reason why Milwaukee decided to come out with the M12 Fuel Cordless Right Angle Impact Wrenches.

In addition, the Milwaukee M12 Fuel Stubby Cordless Impacts (250 ft-lbs of torque) are too big and bulky to fit in tight places.

Milwaukee M12 FUEL Right Angle Impact Wrench (220 ft-lbs of torque) can replace both the cordless ratchets and cordless stubby impacts.

But wow was really feeling completely sold on it until it couldn't remove the 130# lugnut

But then did more with a different style nut

Interesting all the variables though.

Agree a heavier socket always helps...good example with the shallow vs the deep. And I have had similar experiences between 1/2" and 3/8" deep sockets same tool same fasteners

Should beat using the ratchets in a lot simple removal chores hand down though and work pretty good in most applications non rusted/seized fasteners under 1/2" (12mm) thread size.

indeed it is and that main draw back on most battery tools and the M12 line been fairly decent sized besides the ratchet and this impact .
power to size is piss poor .
Is a great tool and will get better as design and tech keeps improving .
I won't be buying one as limited use to me in a autoshop environment .

Amazon is the best price link I see...and less than ARES which seems to be the same. Can be found other places like on Ebay and National Tool Warehouse also stocks Titan brand products.

For about 2 x the price Grey Pneumatic also offers a set that may be even a tad shorter, but these are about 1/2" shorter than standard length impact adapter. Might be some others options too These short adapters have been mentioned before on TGJ



Here's is a pic the 3/8 drive to 1/2" on my Stubby with a 15/16" socket. Worked out great for me removing a riding mower blade nut recently.

I went with the 1/2" after seeing how poorly the 3/8" did with a shallow socket. My reasoning is I'm more likely to use it on the larger rusted fasteners where feeding an impact gun is difficult. A 1/2" socket should help me squeeze the most out of this one.

I have Campfield Hausfeld impact sockets fit loose on bolts while my SK impact sockets fit tighter on bolts.

Does the TEKTON impact sockets fit tight or loose on bolts?

I grabbed an M12 bolt out of my parts bin. I tried it with Tekton, Grey Pneumatic and Astro. They all felt the same. Certainly none felt loose.

They should probably give CP at least a checkmark also for weight considering they're over 3/4lb (~25%) lighter

Yes and not cherry picked comparisons, the better model pneumatic angle impacts not gear driven are in the high 300ft-lb to low 400ft=lb torque rating .
they also less bulk .
I own 2 of them and they useful mainly as torque to size ratio good.
Only reason the waukee got that reach is motor/control and battery made it a necessity and they marketing numbers not ergonomics and real world limitations .
