exposed-screw vises of any brand do not seem to get too many people excited around here.
I can see where you are coming from in terms of the lead screw's "inadequacies", but alot of the allure of vises also come from the make, vintage, rarity, and cool factor. Size/weight is usually the biggest decider in gauging value, but most people looking for a vise for the garage will be fine with a 4" 50 lb'r.
To me, it's a cool looking Morgan probably from the 50's. May not be rare and on the smaller side, but it's still a cool older vise. You got three of the four points I give these "essential securing tools" we so adore on the site
