Boy what a cool gift, today I stopped by to check on my dad, I try to do so about 3-4 time a week. he is in his late 70's and goes to work every day, rain or shine. He drives a school bus for special needs children for the last 10 yrs, but what he does most is miss my mom. We lost her to cancer in 2002, and for my dad I think he still misses her as much today as he did the day she died. He goes through his days with a brave face and a smile, and I know when I visit him and tell him stories and joke with him or talk about my wife and little girl he enjoys it, but I also know that when I have to leave the loneliness set in and sets in fast. Some times by the time I get home he already has called my wife and is talking to her.( we live about 5 min. away). Well today I stopped by for a quick cup of joe and a few laughs and he gives me his old safety glasses from when he worked at Pepsi for 34 years! He tells me that he wore them every day he worked, and back in the old days the glass bottles were known to burst and glass would go flying everywhere, and that's why it has the wire mesh sides. He also told me that at the end when they went to plastic bottle he didn't have to wear, but it didn't feel right not having them on. I was so moved by this I almost cried! But I just thanked him over and over, then he say's "listen I'm not going anywhere if you know what I mean I just have to start cleaning out some stuff and I want you to have all the tools! My Gandpa's from the old country and all of his" . He has the tools he uses in his toolbox, but he has about 3 metel chest and 4 or 5 small toolboxes for me to have. So, the next couple of weeks I'll be updating you on what I got. Love ya Dad! P.S. If you have an old set of Safety glasses lets see them!
