If you click on the other drive sizes and color selections, you can get repair kits to show up for each drive size along with a stubby and a 12 inch 3/8 drive flex head. The stubby 3/8 runs $99 and change, while the 12 inch 3/8 flex head is going for $120.87 :wtf: Kind of expensive for an Olsa ratchet, even a made in the USA Olsa Ratchet :dunno:
So are we thinking that somehow SK made a batch of LP90 ratchets in Olsa Trim before they sold the company? or are these the first Great Star owned SK products? Who else could be the manufacturer? I'm more intrigued by who made the ratchets than the ratchets themselves.
I am also I asked the rep were they were made hope to get an email back

And it looks like they're all sold out except for the 1/2 at this time.

Looks like they went all out on the USA made part per Amazon description;
★ MADE IN THE USA - Completely engineered, fabricated and assembled in the USA using 100% domestically-sourced parts and materials. Industrial-grade Chromium Molybdenum (Cr-Mo) steel provides strength and shatter-resistance so you can be confident that your low profile ratchet will be a lifetime companion through your toughest jobs.
They aren't sold out there just not fully available yet

For that kind of money I don't care if they're made on the Moon by the now dead Neil Armstrong. Who the hell is going to pay that when you're in Matco, Mack and Snap-On's territory.
People pay 80$ for a gearwrench 3/8 with a sloppy anvil I'll pay an extra 40$ just to try it out but you are right many other better options at that price point but I just have to have at least 1 lol

The 1/2”x24” is showing in stock and deliverable by Friday.
$200 after tax. 😬
That is expensive but not far out from let's say proto 90 tooth pricepoints with similar quality by the looks of it I just bought a 3/8 flex proto 90 tooth from zoro ( cheepest I could find) for 130$ I think 100$ is a fair price point for a quality USA made flex head rat but 130 it should lock somehow lol

Or Olsa has been using Great Star for sourcing, and GS is now offering USA made ratchets to them.
That's the likely option gs has been a sourcing supplier for lots of people for ages wouldn't shock me at all if someone like olsa would bit on these either from a profit or being more legit perspective

The more photos I see of these they have to either be made by Great Star / SK or have bought the design rights and are using a US manufacturer. Either way these are the exact same as the SK LP 90's. Which worries me because those received abysmal reviews.

I was supposed to get 10$ off but 2 days later zoro added the 10$ back on to my Paypal I didn't see any coupons but toolsource and other sites were about 150$ for a proto 3/8 90 tooth flex

Interesting the way I found to get the absolute best prices on proto stuff is find the part number search zoro for it under Stanley proto which is drop shipped by proto and leave something that is sold by zoro in the cart for a few hours while logged in because that usually generates a 20-25 percent off coupon.

He won't tell me who the manufacturer is only that they make other big name tools I've definitely heard if I were a betting man I would say SK/great start is involved just because of the look it's almost a spitting image of the lp90

I've bitched about the pricing on the Proto precision 90 ratchet series since they were first released. :wtf: I don't care if the Proto version got the better designed handle. There's no reason for them to be priced more or equal to the MAC version. I think Proto keeps the precision 90 ratchets artificially high especially when compared to their 45 tooth series but, that's just me.

Im surprised they havent updated the website.
The “few days” they mentioned have passed.
This is a major premium product launch.
But so far its been lackluster, uninspiring.
Their amazon listing needs redone.
Hope they get the bugs worked out.
This will be a hard sell with their current marketing plan.

Something else i dont care for:
The website pop-up to enter your email for a discount code.
Once entered, another box pops up to get your phone number before they will email the code.
That just rubbed me wrong, slightly shady.

Anyways, the ratchets look promising.
Good to see another domestic option.

Couldn't agree more they are a damn nice Ratchet but some places were selling the proto 90 tooth flex for the same price as the Mac with a lock... zoro wants 200$ for the 1/4 flex lmao

That's almost snapon territory. $224.50 + tax for the snapon and I trust their warranty and ability to supply parts for years to come a lot more than olsa. I have a good rep so it's just a matter of texting him and it will get taken care of vs. trying to figure out olsa's warranty.

https://shop.snapon.com/product/Dual-80-Technology,-Chrome-(1-2")/1-2"-Drive-Dual-80-Technology-Standard-Handle-Flex-Head-Ratchet/SF80A
SLF80A is comparable length (24 - 13/16"), $245 plus tax.

Circle C had at least a partial lineup of the Proto Precision at reasonable prices but they seem to be gravitating more towards Wright now.

SK had their own tooling, much of which came from Western Forge.
When the LP90 was released in 2017, WF was still in operation in CO. as an Ideal partner company. IIRC, SK claimed the new ratchets were made in IL. start to finish. I have never seen any evidence WF played any role in the production. (If anyone has proof, that would be great to share.) WF was closed in early 2020, and the HGST acquisition was in 2021, so the window to reset machinery and tooling and restart production would have been very small.
Only a few scenarios exist: Ideal kept the rights/tooling to the ratchet, HGST owns it, or a third party was involved.

I've had their tools for a few years the problem I've had is they sell tools for a year or 2 then they get discontinued it happend with their stubby 120 tooth flex wrenches and there push reverse ratchet wrenches I called and asked them about watentee and they said I can just have my money back if something breaks it's fairly hassle free....I'm definitely not suggesting these are a replacement for snap on but it might be an opportunity for somebody to get a decent quality ratchet for 120$ if they don't quite have the funds for a 180$ snap on ratchet

We usually don't give out our manufacturer info, but you can be sure that we selected an American manufacturer that also produces ratchets for some BIG names you've definitely heard of! 1f609.png

Apologies for this, we are currently working on fixing this bug on our site and it should be up really soon!

I apologize about your experience with the stubby 120 tooth flex wrenches and the push reversible ratchet wrenches!

We actually had to recall all of the 120 tooth flex wrenches due to a manufacturer's defect. We reached out to everyone that bought them and offered to refund them for their orders; if you were missed, please feel free to DM me here and we will pattern it out for you.

Good news is that the new batch has been fixed and is currently on the way to USA. They will be up for sale again within the next upcoming months!

I got my 3/8 today!! It's not bad at all ...
"Not bad at all" isn't exactly high praise for $100 plus ratchet :dunno:

Looking at that ugly *** pot metal looking direction switch, that ratchet had to be made by SK, or at least the same peeps that made the LP90 series ratchets for SK. :headscrat :dunno:

More questions than answers. Enjoy your new ratchet

Wouldn't be my first choice for a 120$ ratchet not going to lie but it has a good feel took it apart it's well built laid down some tourq on it head stayed nice and stiff but i just like my proto 90 tooth better nothing feels quite as good as that to me... that includes my snap- ons ,matcos ,nepros, stahwillie it's right there with the rest of them but nothing that really stands out to me.... Best way I can put it...not sorry I bought it though I like to see USA made tools and if 100$ helps that in any way I'm good with that

Hows the ratcheting action? Is the flex tight? Definitely looks similar to the LP90 which was a great ratchet!
Ratchet action is nice tight and crisp not sloppy anvil is tight, selector switch is nice and positive and the flex head is tight but not so tight you can't move it I'm a big guy and I ripped on her head didn't get floppy at all

For that much cash it's got to be a hell of lot better than "not bad at all."
It's probably not going to give you a reach around but it's a damn solid ratchet I never made the post to get anyone to buy it I just like talking about tools and I'm a bit of a collector check one out don't check one out I got no horse in the race...
