Do you sell Toptul Also?

:lol_hitti

I don't understand why certain members need to post their feelings towards Snap On in every single thread? If you don't like them, that's great. If you think they are overpriced, that's fine. We don't need you telling us in every thread. We get it, you like Harbor Freight, that's great. Post something constructive about your Harbor Freight tools, not some asinine statement about your home, motorcycles, and 401k.

Serious question, kctyphoon. Don't union tradesmen normally do whatever they can to purchase an American made product, including hand tools?

What you have as far as assets is just greedy materialistic BS - it is what you do with what you have that is meaningful in your life (or should be)

Think of all of the good in the world that could be done with the money difference between a nice HF toolbox and a 10K SO box, do you really need a $4000 collection of wrenches, or could that money help someone less fortunate than yourself, who is outside freezing tonight, or hungry or both - when a craftsman full polish USA wrench turns a bolt just fine!

Something to think about this holiday season, and really should be thought about year round!

So did you buy the Snap On tool box or were you busy doing charity work?

If you read this thread, and many others - you'll usually find its a S/O fan throwing out the first remarks calling everything junk and ****.

No, I replied to KcTyphoon that I have the same as him. What I have is meaningful to me and what I have is what I worked for. At no point did I say I have a Snap-On box or a $4000 set of wrenches. My wrench set happens to be cman pro usa, and the Snap-On pieces I do have are only in the box because I get them for free. The other assets I have are at the level they are at because I made them what they are and worth what they are.

Serious answer - I'll assume that would depend on the company/union they work for.. Or if it's just their personal preference.. Some places, like mine, are required to buy certain tools, through certain outlets. For safety reasons, the company is required to provide its workers with tools, and not many are made in America, although they all meet certain safety requirements. My job is considered very dangerous, so the few things we have are all quality, regardless of origin. Also, with budgets always being cut, people constantly steeling equipment, many times I'll buy little things here and there just to make my life easier, even though I shouldn't have to.. So instead of having one adjustable wrench to use, I'll go buy 4 HF composite ratchets and the 4 different sockets I need from HD just to make my day to day faster and easier..

Persoanlly, for home, craftsman, husky, and Irwin do fine by me.. Non essentials like extra ratchets, longer wrenches, and stupid things that I wouldn't be able to justify spending serious money on, HF does fine for the few times I will use them if ever... I don't buy power tools from them though. I will always pick a good brand, even if I buy it used.

Listen I get the whole "made in America" thing, and it's a shame things have gone so far down hill.. But that's compaies wanting to make more money, or just remain competitive. Furthermore - buying used snap on tools from ebay aren't doing much at all for our economy. At least buying SOMETHING new helps give someone a job all the way from the guy unloading the boat it came in on, to the kid that stocked it on the shelf and HD OR HF and everyone in between.

All this talk of tools, eXtenze, and stuff got me thinking. I'm going to go up and see what the wife is doing. BRB, it shouldn't take long.

Has anyone peeled the rubber grip off the standard length 3/8" flex head? I tried to heat mine to slide it off but that didn't work. Pulling hard doesn't work either.

Kctyphoon, thanks for the honest answer. I am not judging, just curious. I have my share of tools that weren't made in the USA too, and for similar reasons.

Just when I have thought these threads can't sink any lower, I am proven wrong. I guess I'll go sell my Snap On ratchets, and send the money to the poor and helpless.

Next time you have a thought, for the live of God, let it go.

They're probably poor and helpless because the spent their last dime on a snap on ratchet! After all, according to some of the logic here, one couldn't possibly afford a snap on ratchet AND be able to eat anything but romen noodles for the rest of their life :lol_hitti

There is some pics in the other thread about these ratchets where someone pulled it off. rubber is about 1-1/4" longer than shaft.

Have the same and more and not with having to settle for HF ****/\.

I'm not "settling", im buying what I want, dependent on how it will get used.. If you have "more", then good for you.. Obviously you can afford the tools, genuinely need them, or at a level in your career that warrants you having them. That, however, is not the case for MOST of the people in here that bash on others for not buying what they did.. Nothing you can say will convince me, or a lot of other people, that a $15 or $20 an hour, work for someone else mechanic, needs, or should , spend that kind of money.

I just don't understand the defense of these rats when they aren't even the best in their price range. Is everyone blinded by the red and black handle or what?

So what is the best in the $15 price range? Last I checked, Craftsman low profile, Kobalt, etc. were all much more expensive. Half the attraction is the low price on these.

There is not. On member tok his apart and another used a cheater pipe on the end of the handle and snapped it of. The handle is longer than the shaft. Even if it ws nice enugh to use your new polished hndle woulld be a couple inches shorter.
My hf can't keep the long 3/8 and 1/2 in stock so if you want one don't hesitate.

I'd be very interested if there is something better for the money. I'm putting together toolboxes for two enclosed trailers. I've already decided I'm not putting top line stuff in them. They would be too easily stolen or lost.

http://m.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-38-in-Drive-Quick-Release-Flexible-Head-Ratchet/3387120 Not really that much more and far superior to me anyway. Same mech, QR, and no wonky handle. I hate comfort grips. For an extra 10 bucks that one is well worth it to me, even with the same mech. Head is smaller, finish is better, detents so it isn't floppy as heck and you don't need to rebuild it before you use it.

The only thing that has not broke that I have ever bought from HF is my Ratcheting tap handle and 5 drawer cart and side cab. The Allen heads are **** and the balls break like glass, the transfer punches flatten out after one use. The heads get lose as heck on the hammers, the sockets twist, the spring loaded punch seizes up about the third time you use it. The magnets come out of the nutsetters, the prybar bend like curly fries and I have about killed myself using one of their pipe Wrenches.

Anyway, it is not as if I have not had experience with HF tools and I have spent a lot of money there. Thing is I wish I hadn't because so much of it has failed me and I ended up buying better stuff that wasn't really much more but has served me far better and longer.

Spend the few extra bucks and get Kobalt or Craftsman. You can't go wrong with either of them. For me the fact that the closest HF's are all an hour away while Sears and Lowe's are 2 miles away helps too, and neither of them smells like HF.
