New pole building build thread, need ideas and thoughts.

Hi G.J Crew, I have been lurking sine 07-30-2014. I love all your ideas and expertise you share.

Im Currently having a building built as we speak. They should be done this week.

The details are, 80' wide, 64' deep and 16' with a 8' leanto for my firewood.

I will be using half the the barn for my shop / man cave.

So that will be 40' x 64.

I will be doing infloor radiant heat, and be putting in a two post shop lift (10k).

Im currently researching info on infloor heat, vapor bearer, foam, insulation, supporting pipes and boiler, Lights, fans, air conditioner, electrical, air compressor line setup, and erosion control.

I hired an excavator for the pad work and he hauled in 73 dump truck loads.

The pad is 10' wider then the building, and its just over 6' tall in the back left corner.

My pictures are all scrambled up during the transfer to the computer so its fun sorting it out.

anyways, after the pad was done, and before the building was started, i ran water, electric and my wood boiler lines to the shop.

I dug up my well, and put in a tee and a curb stop so i have water for a slop sink and washing vehicles.

Water is 8' down, boiler line is about 4' and electic is 2'.

Drilling hole, pouring concrete, tipping posts and leveling posts.

The other half will be dirt, storage for trailers and for 50 round bales.

Finished trusses and started roof tin.

I put in my vertical foam boards, They are 2" thick and 2' down from projected floor height.

Tyvek walls, and starting to put up tin and setting windows.

inside of the lean to was tinned, and i was able to set up my boards so i can pack it full of firewood for the season.

I cut spacer boards so the plywood wouldn't rest on the building and damage it. I pulled the tin screw and replaced it with a longer wood screw. You never know when plans change so i wanted to be able to reverse it without damage.

Sure, A/C is common.
Not sure why anyone would need a heater though... anyhow what's the funny looking white stuff on the ground?

Don't forget to plumb for a bathroom. Maybe you complete it, maybe not but prep for it. You can always put in a simple septic for it in the future. I put some electric pvc pipe in my floor for putting wires to a work bench. I did not want electrical drops so I picked several spots and put the tubes under the concrete. I also put a few pieces of 2 x 2 steel in the floor so I could have anchor points. Just things you might want to consider.

How huge is the shop/mancave going to be????? That barn is huge!!! And if you're going to use half as a shop/mancave....I think I'd add a few pool tables, a couple big screen TV's and have the Rural Local bar!!!!

I got some lights mounted and wires ran.
I don’t like the looks of conduit on the ceiling so I ran all my wires above the ceiling. It’s more work but I think it looks cleaner

Good so far, they are bright and will get brighter with white walls and concrete.

I bust my a$$ this summer and I finished the inside of 1/2 of the pole building so I have a nice shop now.

I don't like romex but that's a minor gripe compared to the quality of the job you're doing. Very nice
