25 year old craftsman / generac 1750 PSI 2 GPM that is getting near the end. It runs and pumps well but not worth putting any money into at this point. I need to do all the walks and driveway - thinking it may or may not make it considering how it is not a heavy duty unit. Last time it took a full 8 hours day running at full to do that. Just a feeling. Used mostly to wash the car but when something heavier is needed, a small electric won't work. CA is outlawing ICE engines in six months, so it needs to be now or never. Sam's Club has a Simpson 61219 MS (2.5 GPM 3400 PSI) on sale for $339. The specs are fine but there are a lot of people with the same model bought elsewhere who have had problems. The local mower dealer will have some recommendations I am sure but they carry some really unusual brands in those. Does anyone have 2023 recommendations for a well-built, reliable pressure washer where parts will be available in 5 - 8 years? The one I have now has a variable tip on it unlike the new ones with switch the tip designs.

the Simpsons on sale have Kohler engines. Lots of cheap parts. I've looked locally for a used one but the people selling them are either selling worn out units or over priced ones.

I have a DeWalt pressure washer that has worked very well for me. 3400 psi and 2.5 gpm. It has a Honda GX engine in it which was a major selling point.

I saw that one. Sort of liked it. Only place I could find it for sale is the orange big box store. Thought I would ask the local shop if they do warranty work on them. Downside is they are supposedly made by FNA which includes Simpson. Some posts elsewhere indicate warranty repairs are a nightmare due to Dewalt not taking responsibility and FNA trying to pass it back to Dewalt. Gotta read the reviews at places they are sold.

Fair enough. In my case I had no warranty issues, and it’s out of warranty now.

I bought nib generac at an auction and it has worked well and seems to be a quality machine. Ive had it couple years and use it occasionally. No idea what they cost new though.

What make pump on the DeWalt?
I don't know. One review said his broke into two pieces at the casting mold lines after a few hours of use. He complained that the quality of the pump was poor. He called Dewalt to have it fixed, they referred him to FNA and they said it was a DeWalt problem. Doesn't sound like a top of the line pump however the DeWalt line has several different washers so the pumps could come from different companies.

I went with a big pressure washer so I could use it for sand blasting too using an adapter. I bought in 2019 and used it this past weekend. still fires right up and works great (which it should considering the price). I bought mine at Home Depot

thank you. At $1200 I would probably buy thru the local small engine / mower shop. They have experience servicing them at that price range.

Still running a 2005year 6.5 Honda GX with 2800 psi Cat pump. Never missed a beat other than to replace the carb and the fluky filter in the bottom of the fuel tank

If and when the sales of new equipment with Gas Engines are prohibited we can still keep our old machines running, sometimes with new parts.

For sidewalk and driveway use - get a surface cleaner for your new pressure washer. It will cut your cleaning time on those surfaces in half at least. Doesn't have to be a huge one - mine's a simple 18" unit.

The one I have works fine but it has so many hours on the engine I am concerned it may not last another 1000 hours. I am guessing that is about what is on it. Simple Briggs L engine, 1998 or so Craftsman by Generac. Pump replaced twice already. Carb once, cleaned a couple times. Did the valves this winter, they were really tight. Had to grind quite a bit off to get the proper clearances. The valve guides are worn out. I am sure the rod and rings are getting there too. Buying a new engine, new pump, new hose, new wand etc., would be as much as just buying a new one. But whatever I buy has to be reliable, reasonable footprint to store, and parts availability for at least 10 years. Just using it to wash the car I'd use it until it dies but once I start cleaning sidewalks again - just have a bad feeling about how much use is left in it. I may just try it and see what happens.

I'll take a look at a disc.

When I worked as a Counterman at a warehouse distributor of auto parts. We often made Ring Sets for unknown engines.

If we had the cylinder bore and piston groove width we could assemble a set of rings from the information in the back of paper catalogs we worked with. Within limits we could adjust rings to fit a given cylinder diameter, piston grove width could be adjusted with spacers or cut to a new size.

I've done the same. More worried about the piston slap, the rod bearings, crank wear, cam wear and the shot valve guides. I've looked to see if anyone is scrapping a good similar washer with a bad pump to use the engine off it but nothing that old comes up anymore.

Five Horse Horizontal shaft engines are very common, and readily available both new and used.

I have an old pressure washer that seems to have gotten the “Bad Gas” disease. I will give it to any member who is willing to haul it away. PM me for my address.

Just used my Dewalt 3200 psi today. Model DXPW60603. Has a Cat pump, Honda motor. Cranked on second pull after sitting more than a month.

FWIW, I only run non-ethanol gas in it.
