Couldn't find super lube anywhere in town. Coated the 1/2 inch with white lithium its all I have. Didn't do anything. Put some amsoil marine grease on my 3/8. Got it on every tooth and the pawls but not packed. Still sounds dry to me.

I'm gonna go check out these new ratchets this weekend at my local store. Probably buy the 3/8 and 1/2 in the long handle version. The problem is..... I also plan on buying at least 2 new ratchets from our new Snap On dealer next week. I guess I need to make some room in my ratchet drawer. lol

I'm fairly certain I've bought superlube at HF.

Try mystik. Hell why not, it's a cheap ratchet. You'll hear or feel nary a tooth. I have a craftsman bar ratchet set up that way. Criminal/vandal ratchet but whatever.:bounce:

some please pic's of the long handled 1/4"

The 1/4" doesn't have a long handle version.

HF sells superlube. You could have gotten it while you were buying the ratchet. :lol_hitti

My harbor freight doesn't stock superlube anymore. Hardware stlre doesn't either but they still carry the spray.

I like RLL, but it seeps like crazy. I've come to prefer a thin coat of superlube on fine tooth ratchets.

Black moly grease is much more stable in hot climates and equally 'thin' on sensitive fine tooth ratchets. Some of them get all gummed up on thick heavy greases.

I'll leave it lay on hot concrete in full sun while working most times and the black moly grease stays inside the ratchets. A major point in its favor.

Picked up the new 3/8" composite wrench. Harbor Freight has a real gem; perfect length and good quality construction. Can't wait to see 1/4" and 1/2" models.

I flirted with the girl at the register today and ended up paying $2.17 for 1/2" drive long flex head. Feels pretty good, but I have yet to use it. Just for size comparasing I put Snap-On F936.

How did you end up paying only $2.17?

I too grabbed one today I was really surprised at how little back drag these have and the length makes it sort of unique for a non flex ratchet

I literally did nothing more than flirt with a girl and exchanged numbers. I came to the register, she scanned the ratchet, entered something in the computer and said $7.**. I was already pretty happy about it, I told her "Thank you so much!". I was about to swipe my card and he goes, "Hold on.". Scanned some coupon under the register and my total ended up being $2.17.

I am strongly considering these as my first flex head ratchets. They seem nice to me from what I've seen in store. Wish the grips were the cushioned style.

Nothing feels as good to me as the craftsman slim line ratchets. I would not gamble on the hf ratchets at 50 dollars when I can get a set of slim lines for 60.

I dunno man, looks like HF is stepping their game up quite a bit with these.

Might not be better than my Snappy's, but they're going to gain a lot of buyers with these.

FWIW, they do look pretty dang good.

A few things...

-they're not even close to $50. The most expensive one is less than half of that with a coupon.
-there's no gamble; the mechanism in these has been around forever and is proven to be good
-I'm not sure why you would bring up non-flex head ratchets as an alternative to flex head ratchets; they're for different jobs

this thread is so f'd up.

No, you were trolling, your posts were deleted, and you got a ban because of it.

Nothing ******** thus far, dropped the transmission pan in my GF's Expedition (4R100, man that thing holds a lot of ATF, way more than the 4R70 in my F150), changed the oil and spark plugs in my CJ, both with the long composite. I keep intending to replace the heater core in my truck, and would have split time between the 1/4" flex and Armstrong MAXX non-flex, but I'm just a touch intimidated at the thought of ripping out the entire dash.

The ATF or grungy oil didn't seem to have any effect on the plastic shell.

You guys are too hard sometimes. :wtf:

This thread should be like a new tool announcement, hey look what HF has?

Then the guys without flexhead ratchets or those that need more, can beat feet down to HF and get em. :dunno:

Most new tools look great hanging on store rack. The jury is still out on these. Let everyone get them, use them, and post back the results later, maybe even in a year or so to see how they hold up. I always look forward to those, I wonder if I can do this (fill in the blank) with my ratchet threads or wow, I broke this ... doing this ...

Leave all the other **** out of it. If someone buys a tool, it's their choice. you not liking it doesn't make their choice wrong.

I've been on the hunt this morning for flex head ratchets. Stumbled across this thread looking for Armstrong ratchets.
Anyway, these look eerily similar to gear wrench, basically saying Pittsburg on the handle instead of gear wrench. And also looks similar to my buddies SO flex head lol.
Might give them a shot for the price can't go wrong

Edit: I guess I should have read the beginning of the thread, and not the last page.

the armstrong maxx 10 994 11 994 and the 12 994 are worth the money. these are some excellent ratchets. even better when you can find a deal on them with the 88 tooth upgrade.
BUT.... 3 times the price as the hf flex heads.....

I got to use the 3/8 composite ratchet today, and it was ok. I like the look, however "palming" the ratchet head will cause the selector switch to go neutral if you apply to much force. I know most of you will say I am using the ratchet wrong, but when the fastener requires less torque, choking up on the ratchet handle is what I've always done and Im sure some of you do too. Its not a gripe on quality, its just annoying. I am going to return the one I had and see if they all do this. Otherwise its a good ratchet.

Just picked up the 1/2'' long reach flex head yesterday $23.50 with 20% coupon so far so good although it came dry so a little lucas assembly lube goes a long way.

For real world experience: I bought a 1/4" flex Pittsburg Professional ratchet last week. Bought it for $16 and change with a 20% off coupon. It has the same 72 tooth mechanism as my 20 year old Astro Pneumatic stubby & My Titan 72 tooth 1/4"- 3/8" combo ratchets. This is a smooth mechanism that will last very well if you don't over do it. Not as strong as a Snap On and not as expensive, but a workable ratchet action for a great price. The Harbor Freight version is in a handy SO clone flex handle that I hope will last me a long time. Since it is a new product we will have to wait and see if there are any real flaws to complain about. Until then die hard complainers will simply have to improvise some.
