You don't like the looks of it? Jee, I don't care what something looks like as long as it's comfortable. Ergonomics over Aesthetics.
You're not wrong, and I agree about the importance of ergonomics. But if I am spending Snap On money on a ratchet, I would prefer to like all parts of it to look how I would like. Just my opinion though.

OK let's make a Frankenstein ratchet. The Snap-on 100 tooth ratchet head with which handle?

Good news, the 1940s logo is only on the launch edition ratchets. Wait a while and you’ll be able to get the current logo.
Is that a fact? That logo they have is not doing the Snap On name any justice, it actually makes it look cheap. JMO ;)

Quoted from the launch materials that were posted on fb.

I quite like the evolution of the snap on logo and always smile when I pick up a tool and notice it isn't the current logo, thinking about the history of that tool. Obviously not a thing for the launch edition, but I might pick one up for the novelty

I've always liked the script logo as well. In my little bit of collecting, I'll look for script logo stuff before older and more rare 40's & 50's logo items.

Just an FYI- I spoke to the Snap On guy I deal with and he said he doesn't expect to have them on his truck until after the New Year. He ordered them.

Interesting.

My dealer, who is typically not awesome with time lines, said he expected them soon and to have a trade in promotion on dual 80s.

For a vulture like me, that's music to my ears. Time to pick up some more dual 80s.

Yep, interesting. I'll update the thread if anything changes.

I've sometimes wondered why old timers never upgraded their 36 tooth snap on ratchets to dual 80s en masse.

And now here I am, uninterested in trading in my dual 80s.

I'd have to get them side by side with a mic and see how much I'd be saving size wise. The extra teeth aren't all that great to me, as I have invested in torque adapters, low profile sockets, and such to purposely move drive tools out of tight areas. So the added swing arc itself isn't something I'm dying for on regular ratchets. It's thinner, yes, but I have matco 88s and GW 84 tooth ratchets. Both of which I believe are thinner. Maybe I'll get a standard length flex and retire the tekton.

I still have a bunch of F20's and F30's as well as F830's and F936's. (Fl's FLF's in each also)
It's a sickness, I guess, but I don't care. I'm ready for the 100's.

Thanks. That link works for me.

Entering FL100 in the search bar doesn’t yield a result.

I asked my Snap-on dealer (not really mine, but the guy I bought some stuff from) and he acknowledged the launch of 100-tooth ratchets but said it will be a while before they come to Europe.

Meanwhile I got the FLLF80 I had ordered. Impressive bit of kit. This is going to see a lot of use. Fairly chunky head indeed, though.

One thing I noticed looking at the pictures I found is they mention the F100 has a steel reverse lever. Hopefully that does mean they are more durable than the lever on the F80 ratchets. It's uncommon, but I've broken one reverse lever from a drop and looking on ebay and going through pawn shops, dual 80 ratchets with broken selector switches pop up once in a while. Not a big deal, but it's nice to see Snap-On is trying to improve on that.

My guy said he ordered them but doesn't expect them until January. We shall see.

I broke a reverse lever on my dual 80 just from normal use and it was a relatively new ratchet with minimal time in use. I was just changing directions with it and the tang broke off right at the hub of the selector. Ratchet had never been dropped or abused in anyway before the failure.

Y'all can call it a gimmick if you want but I'm buying one lol

If the story began and ended with a hundred teeth, I'd say 'whatever'. Since they're making the whole thing much smaller, there's a lot to look at. I'd be very (very) surprised if SO makes an average ratchet.

I haven't seen it called a "Dual-100" mechanism yet - anyone know what the guts look like yet?

At 10:44 they begin to talk about the new ratchet and the dealer in the video shows a special ratchet with a see through head so you can see the guts
Missed opportunity by the guy holding the camera. He should have got closer. This was the best view I could get:

Which is still interesting, because it looks extremely similar to the Dual 80 design.

Went ahead and searched "snap on ratchet" and filtered for most recent upload, and found this: A guy got some pictures from a instagram reel post (or something like that) and talks a bit about it. Yeah it does look pretty much the same, which is fine, they're great ratchets. This is probably just a more refined ratchet that is smaller yet still holds (I would think at least) the same or nearly the same torque loads and is just even finer. The selector does look like it uses ab it of a different mechanism tho, I don't see the springs on either side of it like I used to on this one.

That’s more like it!

Maybe the camera operator in the first video you posted was told not to get close because the demo ratchet with the transparent cover was just an old Dual 80.

That’s actually quite different from the Dual 80. Still hard to decipher how it works from the grainy frame grabs. But this is certainly intriguing. Hints of Ko-ken’s designs that we know to have very low back-drag.

I think it’s fascinating that there’s still room to improve the ratchet, the basic mechanism of which humans have been using for over a thousand years.
