No shipping costs, truck financing and up until last week, better pricing.

Snap on has free shipping on orders up to $500.. Over $500 make multiple orders. I can't recall but I don't think there is any tax either.

That's good, but the truck financing is pretty damn unbeatable, especially when you don't know if you are going to flag 13, 21 or 57 hours that week.

When you become an automotive technician, working 10 hours a day to try to make your hours, then and only then will your opinion matter, and it won't matter that much.

Working 10 hour days in a trade is the norm, you have no leverage with that comment. Auto techs complaining about their wage, its a broken record. Same ****, every time.

What makes your opinion matter, because your an auto tech? MANY other trades use these tools each day. Being that they dont work for a stealership, means they have no opinion?

I agree, dont get so bent out of shape because a tool company has you by the nuts. Buy something else, there are plenty other quality tools out there. Now your thinking, "but I use them everyday"...guess what so do MANY other trades and they dont all use Snap On, they seem to get by without the Snap On grip of death.

Take this as a discussion, I am not trying to argue with you.

Read his comment before adding your own. This has nothing to do with pay, this has everything to do with the time we have to chase down SO guys and how stupid it is to tell a technician that they have no life because they are dependent on their tools and the tool companies. Want us to fix cars with duct tape and zip ties and a little silicone?

A while back I changed locations which changed SO drivers for me.
I didn't like the new guys attitude so I used to continue to get tools from the old SO guy because he lived near me and I went to his house.
Not sure how but the new guy found out or figured out I was still doing business with the old guy and complained. The old SO guy was going to have to pay the new guy the 'profit' on all the tools I had bought recently ( not that much money)
The old SO guy told me that and I told him that he needs to tell the regional manager that I don't like the old new guy and that if I don't get my stuff from the old SO guy then I won't be buying SO and if he has to pay the new guy anything I won't be buying SO.
Issue was dropped and I was told it was ok to continue as long as I go to his house which happened to also be in his territory.
The new SO guy was also new to the business and didn't last, I guess others didn't like him as well

Actually, no, you can't. I'm going through this now, I'm trying to change jobs but also buy a tool box from my current SO guy, he said as long as we sign the papers by the day I leave I'm golden, but if I start at my new job, he's not allowed to sell to me anymore.

Wake up, hes pressuring you into buying that box now. :) So many seem to forget that their tool truck buddies are salesman and frequently apply sales tactics.

I drive across town to visit the dealers I want when I need tools. The current guys have pissed me off for the last time. They have never had a problem selling to me. That said, I dont need many tools off the truck anymore and only buy with cash.

Honestly, I doubt it. I call another dealer tomorrow, but my dealer has always been straight with me. It's a iron7022 with armor guard top, carbon fiber drawer trim, and a vlack cover for 3700.

I guess someone from SO reads these boards, our new SO guy today informed us that due to complaints this would be his last week with us and our old guy would take over again.

I did much better, thank you. As long as you are dependent on SO you'll never get out of the 10 hr struggle. It's not your trade, it's your attitude and lack of plan. Wish you the best.

I would love to hear how you did "better." I enjoy working on cars, provide for my family and don't hate going to work in the morning. So your better must be purely monetary, which means nothing, since good technicians are highly skilled individuals, some of which could probably do your job better than you.

Techs are dependent on tools, to tell them to stop being dependent on tools is just stupid.

Unless he's your only tool guy, I'd pay your debt off (and yeah, I know how hard that is, most of the time I'm happy to see my Cornwell balance not be 4 digits) and take your business elsewhere. Snap-On guys that don't know how to deal with techs have a really high turnover rate. I know many people who have a lot of SO stuff that never got paid off because it was on a truck account and the guy went out of business and disappeared.

Pop pop, you have made rather clear you have little to no understanding of the industry or the topic of this discussion, jog on.

All that's currently left is my box. Luckily the internet has made quality products available cheap and easy. Chicago Pneumatic has gotten my most recent purchase.

Pop pop sounds like he was in this business when you could work out of a two hundred and some-odd piece Craftsman set. Some times I kind of wish I was back in those days.
You can still buy other stuff and do the job but those truck tools sure make it nice!

maybe he was the guy who did all the flushes and brake jobs all day. $100 worth of tools turning 15+ hours a day ;)

Sounds about right to me..... We are dependent on qaulity tools to earn our living and if you don't have the tools you don't get that ticket and make the money. Unless I want it to say snap on I don't buy much truck stuff anymore mostly offline. And I run a super low balance on the truck to stay active and get good warranty . Just don't line guys talking down to auto and truck techs we aren't mindless monkeys with tools were trained pros in our field. We deserve the same respect as anyone else
