I cant call it a simple belt, that would be an understatement. Some will say its overkill for a DIY'er. Since I have been rebuilding my 2 1/2 car detached garage: new ceiling joists, electrical, drywall and cabinets . I have found that I needed more room on my belt. Since I am working in stages moving the existing junk as I go. I can go from framing to electrical to drywall.
I shopped the big boxes for a good belt. My last one was leather 7-8 pockets with the plastic snap latch. I got my use out of it. I wanted heavier leather, more pockets, real belt buckle and one made in the good ole USA. That's the major challenge. All the big stores had made in China. Well I read here the post on Occidental Leather and started checking out their goods. Lots o' pockets, thick leather, made in the USA, but with the USA price. Found a local tool shop that had one, the Pro Framer DB set. I went and tried that bad boy on and it fit good, empty. I said WTF, its almost my birthday. I will get it for myself! As you can see I have loaded it up, framing, electrical, staple gun, etc... I personally like my hammer on my hip, I tried the Hammer Holder on my side and it was bulky, I will stick to the leather loop. (the brand new hammer holder is for sale) Its the best fitting most comfortable belt I have worn. I may not do construction 9-5/m-f but I get a lot of use from my tools and this is one I am quite happy with.
If anyone is on the fence. Go with Occidental Leather, you wont be disappointed.
