I've been wanting these for quite some time, and finally decided to pull the trigger. They're nothing special for most of you, but they are to me.
A believe that a lot of the time it's a high-grip coating. Some cheaper brands just use black paint.Nice.
Got a question for anyone that knows about the coating that most screw driver tips seem to have these days. What exactly is it? Is it a surface coating to improve grip or is it more like a different alloy or surface hardening or something.
It's called "Vapor Blasting". It is simply to remove the chrome which would otherwise chip off.
Congrats on the purchase. Did you buy them new off the truck or off of ebay? We had a member on here selling an 8 piece set for $90 a few weeks ago but I believe they were orange.
Ok thanks. So on the snap-ons it's just chrome removal. What about the brands that have like a black coat on the tips, is that just a gimmick?
