Not sure if this has been covered I have seen Wright tools at Acme Tools in Minnesota and they also have some other locations regionally. They do not list them online for some reason, but I have seen a pretty good selection in the physical store. And they do look good!

The only reservation I have with Wright tools is their 1/4" drive sockets. The ones I bought a few years ago lack any retaining hole or detents. Are the newer ones still like that?

This is exactly what I was wondering.

I can understand not finding much hardware suitable for 1/4" drive on an oil rig, but unfortunately, I do work on a lot of things that require it...

If it truly is only the 1/4's, I may go with Proto in those sizes and Wright for everything else.

Hmm. Very interesting :)

I don't think I can resist a set of Dual 80s for ratchets, but for everything else, Wright is looking awfully tempting.

I remember a couple of years ago, someone posted photos of tools that looked like they had sat in water for a month, compared to yours.

The 1/4" drive do have detents, this is a 1/4" drive socket in my fingers.

I have some without the detents - maybe just a couple however. I'd need to check.

Its never been a problem though. They're great tools.

My favorites are the round-head knurled-handle ratchets.

The Full Polish set is a few bucks more but you do not get a 16mm or an 18mm.
I'd have no problem buying the other two wrenches other than the tool roll does not have
a slot for them. If your racking them its no big deal though. The Wright Grips are my favorite wrenches.

Thanks for that. I must have missed it. I might have to spring for the 915 and 958 set, which i do not see on there, unless i missed it again:lol_hitti

Only 1 for me today, the Wright Tool 4434 24" flex bar from the Harry J. Epstein company. This was my first purchase from them but I'm sure not my last. Amazon doesn't have this in stock plus it was $21 cheaper from Epstein.

 Thats a nice looking breaker bar. Im thinking about ordering a set of sae wrightgrips to go along with my metric set. I figure this whole HJE July fourth deal is a good time to do it. I really love my wright wrenches!

I just picked up this Wright #466 1/2 drive metric shallow impact socket set off of the 'bay new for $89. That was way cheaper than anywhere else. I wanted chrome but the price was right.

I used the 19 and 24 today to loosen the rear axle on my KLR650. I will say I have no issue with the sockets themselves, they are fantastic, but I already don't like the plastic rail. When I went to pull the 19 off, I heard a *zing* and the detent ball and spring were gone, shot into my parent's front yard. After 1/2 hr of searching I found the ball and spring and it snapped back together...but be gentle when using these plastic rails. (each plastic clip has its own detent ball and spring to hold the socket in place).

I know it doesn't add to the tools function but Wright has the nicest chrome I have ever seen. They are truly under rated. I need to pick up some wrenches at least.

Well I fell victim to this thread, Wrightgrip 911 on the way to replace my too boxy Kobalt (Williams) std wrenches. I love the ratchets I have been using the past couple years since the first Epstein day. Their stuff just fits the hand so well and is very well built.

It really is! The hex bit sockets I posted are almost too pretty to use.

I forgot to mention earlier about the missing 1/4" socket detents....I had 2 S-K 1/4 extensions that didn't have detents and fell off my Armstrong 1/4 locking flex.

I have access to 1/8 shank 1/4 carbide ball burr, used in conjunction with an air pencil grinder can yield usable "detents", you just have to have a steady hand and hold it against the side at a preset depth to match the ball. In less than 5 minutes my extensions now have detents that work as they should. No pics, hope it makes sense.

I bought 1 1/4 and 1 1/8 wright combo wrenches from hje. They seem great! I'm going to buy more in the future.

The open end of that wrench doesn't look so hot (on the bottom end doesn't look right). Just saying.

Everything else looks real good. That breaker bar head design is interesting never seen one like that.

I got a chance to play with one at a Wright display and the detents are extremely positive as well. Same with their flex head ratchets.

Here is the set #466 I purchased new off the bay for $89. 16 piece 1/2 drive 6 pt shallow metric impact sockets 10-24mm and also 27mm on 2 rails. Very nice.

Geez, I live two and a half miles right up the road from Wright's factory. My wallet would be in serious trouble if they would sell direct.

So you guys that have the wrenches, how can you compare them to another manufacture?

in my box are some raised panel craftsman, and gear wrench, and 2 taiwan sets of BLue Points.

are these leaps and bounds above what i have. i had thought of either finishing the blue point sets out into bigger sizes or getting a snapon/williams or similar larger set when i found a good deal on one.

They're the best wrenches I've ever used. I sold off my Snap-Ons once I started using WrightGrips because I never touched them anymore.

I posted these pics in another thread, but I'll re-post here because the breaker bar is a Wright ....

1" drive Wright breaker bar with a KAL (Japan) 1-11/16" socket that I recently bought to address a specific task.
